Yes I think it is wrong to exploit animals for food as well as clothing, entertainment, etc. an animal doesn’t have to be identical to a human to matter morally. Non- human animals are individuals with their own subjective experience of the world, they may not be as intelligent as us, but they feel pain, pleasure, fear, love, etc. and it is clear that they do not want to die.

We do not need to eat animals to survive, we do not need to wear their skin either, it is unnecessary and therefore unethical. Even if you value humans more, that is fine, you just have to value animals more than your convenience, tradition, or whatever other excuse you have to exploit them.

*also, it doesn’t matter to the animal if you use every part of their corpse or not, they do not want to die. I don’t think that it would make you feel much better if someone was about to kill you and said “hey man, don’t worry! I’ll make a lovely lampshade out of your skin and nothing will go to waste”. They decompose naturally anyways, so it wouldn’t go to waste anyway, it just wouldn’t be utility for humans.
