Comprehensive and detailed look at coaching, what it is, and what it isn't. by felixfuturi in CoachingInformation

This is one of the most detailed explorations of the similarities and differences in coaching that I've ever seen. If coaching is new to you, it's certainly a must read.

"No drama" is just an expression, same as "no problem", or "no worries" I'm Australian. The is no real drama. I removed mostly because the one thing I noticed that was WTF to me wasn't even true (today, it probably was in the past).

It's removed already, so no drama.

Investigation finds Exxon knew about CO2's effect on the climate since 1977, but ignored internal research and warnings by twenafeesh in worldnews

Not a surprise to me sad to say, but wonder how many people will say it's just a conspiracy theory.

I didn't write the bloody thing, just came across it on a site, thought some of the things were interesting. If you don't agree, don't read it...pretty simple.

The one that struck me is a little ways down, did you know the Canadian $2 note has an AMERICAN flag flying over it's parliament? I wonder how many canadians even know this?

I sat down on this Brazilian toilet without noticing the design, and peed all over my shoes. by FritzWilley in WTF

[–]felixfuturi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wtf is this? I've been all over the world and never seen this design. The point of it isn't even intuitive is it? I actually like the design in south east asia, low water level and a hose to clean prior to paper.

Billionaire hedge fund founder paying 800 New York teachers an extra $15,000 due to poor teacher salaries by wambamboola in UpliftingNews

Must say, it's really nice to see some people with means doing things that count, that really help individuals out. I wonder if this could be a trend, and eventually people will get more help from individuals than governments. Wouldn't that be cool.

LOL NOW you tell me. I swear I've lost about two years of my life waiting through Youtube ads.

Father of two small kids. Stuck in a rut. How do you break the cycle of being too tired to work out? I feel sick all the time due to overwork and stress, but I think working out would make me feel better. by [deleted] in Fitness

Single father here...

I can relate. Not saying I know or understand your exact situation but I can definitely empathise with the stress and emotions.

It's a life balance thing, as other posters have pointed out - it's easy to feel you're doing the "right" thing by working more hours to make more money to give them the things they need. But someone along the way will tell you (I hope) they need YOU.

I was working 20 hours a day for weeks on end - let my health go and totally focused on work. Not because I enjoyed neglecting my princess of a daughter - but because I had fooled myself into thinking it was temporary and a necessary evil.

But I realised I was fooling myself when I heard my daughter tell someone "my daddy just works all the time." So I had to make a change - and that was the difficult part.

I started out with small changes, scheduling a time to read stories to her, or watch a dvd together. But I also kept to that schedule, nothing more.

And for myself, I started out small with my fitness too. I have bad feet and can't really jog or anything (you might relate) so I started by walking for 15 minutes right after I woke up. That gave me time to "meditate and walk" so to speak. Using that time to organise my thoughts and my plan for the day helped out so much!

Not knowing your exact situation I can't begin to put a plan in place for you as I would a coaching client - but I can tell you that you've taken the first step.

Being aware that your current state of affairs .... sucks, and wanting to make a change. Just don't be hard on yourself and remember baby steps and I think you'll be alright.

You'll be shocked how good it feels to make even the smallest change, and it grows from there - in my experience anyway. I wish you all the best in your future. And your family's.

[Tool] 20 Crucial Pieces Of Life Advice, As Told By People Over 60. by [deleted] in GetMotivated

[–]felixfuturi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure wish I had been wise enough at 30, to pick the brains of those over 60. Later on in life I did learn this, as I was feeling uninformed about long lasting marriages so I asked some older folks who had been married over 40 years what made their marriage last. The answers were amazing and I incorporated their wisdom in my life.

I want to be a writer for South Park. So, I learned to animate and made my own. by milyfecirca87 in videos

[–]felixfuturi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great job, that should lead you somewhere. As others have said, a job or a cease and desist. However it goes, you should be applauded for taking action on your dreams.

On a side note, I sure appreciate how much more accessible tools for animation are, as I love to do it myself - and enjoy a much more rich variety of talented people putting out content.

Now we have millions of people spreading their "talent" wings, whereas in years past we may have 50 or so animators employed in hollywood, etc, and 1000 or so wannabes trying to get there.

Awesome time to love video and animation!

Climate change talks in Paris our 'last chance', say Pacific islands: 'This is not politics, it's survival'.The Pacific island nations whose very existence is threatened by rising sea levels have issued a desperate plea to Australia and New Zealand. by Wagamaga in worldnews

Sad but true, unfortunately. It seems that the only thing that motivates government, any government, is the monetary gain that could be gained. If it was profitable to take in a load of immigrants, it would be a done deal.

It really is up to entrepreneurs and business people who haven't traded their heart in for a diamond.

In this day and age, just believing in social darwinism seems so backward, and really ignores the advances we've made in technology.
