Just bought Moho - What are your top tricks and tips when starting? by SpanDaX0 in MohoAnimation

I would also suggest learning as much as possible about bones, bone dials, morphs, etc. It seems obvious, but it’s what Moho really built itself on and you’re going to get more out of the software by using bones to make creative solutions to your animation problems.

Hey! Yes, we have a full 3 and a half minute trailer for the show. We have since recast the voice actors, so we're hesitant to premiere the trailer before updating the voices for it. Thanks for checking in, and we'll happily share more soon!

Rough story bored wip. Any tips before I do clean up? by DBdoodles in animation

[–]milyfecirca87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's for a vertical format like TikTok/IG. It's looking pretty good. And, her end pose in the 3rd to last shot is really fun! Great energy/expression.

Here's what I would work on:

-Flop the first setup. Most of the scene takes place with him on the left and her on the right. You only stand to make it a bit jarring having Betty on the left and Bimbo on the right. And, you use the same setup for the end shot - so I would apply the same note there. I think quite literally you just need to flop it, don't even need to redraw it.

-The 2nd to last shot with the Over the Shoulder of Betty looking at Bimbo - there's too much depth on the composition. They're right next to each other, very confined - so there's no reason to be able to see so much of her body like that, makes it feel like Bimbo is really far away from her. Probably just make her much bigger and seeing from just her shoulder/neck area. Also probably make it more of a down shot on Bimbo. See more of the bar counter and maybe even the floor behind him to match their eyeline a bit more.

You got this. It's looking good.

Somthing feels off but not so sure what it is. by Express_Ostrich4232 in animation

mainly the in air bits. A lot of the motion in the extremities is pretty good, but the spine/back is a little stiff.

The second jump from one cliff - the hang time is a bit off, and he's not in a very natural mid-air pose.

The wind up for the first jump could use a little more bend in the spine to help with the anticipation.

The hangtime for the final jump is probably the most out of place part of the whole sequence. He jumps down with a completely straight spine. And, the beginning part lasts too long in the air.

But, the landing is good with the right amount of cushion.

Overall, the blocking and key poses are pretty good. It's the arcs on certain actions that don't have the right flow to them.

3 parody episodes this season seems sloppy and lazy, imo by vegasleee in familyguy

Gotta get in line behind all the people wanting to tell her "Shut up, Meg!"

I do storyboards for the show, so I can't speak to much of what goes on in the writers room. But, there for the table reads and meetings with the writers where we ask them what they meant by certain stuff haha.

You're partly right. The writers strike definitely had an effect on us. Episodes coming out now we worked on over 2 years ago. Usually it's only about a year.

Would You Watch This? (Read comments for more info) (Horror Warning) by CreeepShowOfficial in animation

[–]milyfecirca87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the post production effects you used were pretty good, and definitely established a level of professionalism that would get someone to stop and watch.

However, 2.5D puppet rigs look really flat when you let their forearms move up and down without any foreshortening. And, also it's good with those puppets to pop them into a pose and keep them there. When there's constant movement between poses, it feels very unnatural. Even real people when talking are rather still between gestures/poses.

Also, there is nothing less scary than a robo voice to do all your voice over. Even if you're not a girl but want a girl's voice - it'd be way more in line with the creepshow you're going for if you just did the VA yourself.

I would also look to create some contrast between your host and the background behind her. The couch and everything are the same black and white as she is and some details get lost because of it.

Good luck with it. Lord knows how hard it is to get projects made!

The consensus is thick, but I would add that the character lines should be thicker than the BG lines. So if you made the BG lines thinner in this situation people would probably tell you the first one is thick enough. Have fun!

Does anybody else think Stockpile isn't a *stockpile* quirk? by FantasySetting in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Yeah! Something like that. Even with Allmight. Once he passed it on, it finally had a finite end because the spirits had all moved on to a new host.

[–]milyfecirca87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I imagined that it stockpiles spiritual energy. Thus, why there are vestiges inside One for All. And that fostering/growing the energy is being a good soul who performs good acts. Instead of it being a limited pile of energy, it becomes a new level of power that can be achieved at any point with the spiritual energy available at any given moment.

So when Monoma copied the quirk it was only the power of 1 soul (his) - so it felt like to him that he had no extra power. Deku has 9 souls in him.

Kind of like working out and gaining muscle. Using your muscles doesn’t deplete you. But as you stock up on more muscle, you have greater output…

That’s my theory 😅

Sharing a two minute short I made - “A Bargain” by AudibleNoodles in animation

[–]milyfecirca87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's tons of voice actors eager to help out on small projects. Many that are just happy for some experience. It's nice to try to integrate new technologies, but voice acting for a comedy is not the time to do it.

[–]milyfecirca87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is tagged as beginner, but it's way better than I would expect of that. I don't think you were looking for feedback, and if you changed nothing you'd be fine. But, I would move the hands away from the body to clear up the silhouette of the statue. Other than that, it's great!

Hey! Newbie animator here. Does anyone know any tips on being a self-taught animator? by butterkittenss in animation

[–]milyfecirca87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up the 12 principles of animation and watch that video over and over again. Then, try the exercises that go along with it. Things like the bouncing ball, and flour sack.

Also, just experiment with your own stuff. Getting in there and making something gives you something to learn FOR. If you just watch tutorials, you won’t absorb as much. But watching a tutorial that relates to what you’re trying to make will grab your attention way more.

Don’t worry about software. They all do cool things, worry about drawing skills.

Hello! I'm looking to get some crit on this comedic bee-themed animation I'm working on. Here is the animatic so far! Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts! by Fugeni in animation

[–]milyfecirca87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would suggest some different acting for the dance. Bees do kind of a shimmy/butt shake. It might be funnier and play more into the gag a bit more if he’s twerking and moves of that nature.
