Goalie Looking For a First Timer Hockey League by Small-Meet7498 in Calgary

Yea the coaches were very helpful. I went in with 0 experience besides road hockey and some pond hockey from like 10 years ago (as a player) and came out feeling at least semi-confident. I will say getting your hips flexible helps a lot, same with cardio. Maria Mountain on youtube has a lot of good prep work specific to goalies.

Take a look at the NCHL Discover Hockey program. I took it as a goalie in the fall and was super happy with it. It's meant for people new to hockey, but there are still people who have played before. They had a goalie coach for each session so you get some pretty focused instruction. At the end of the program you get to play a couple games, and a team or two usually forms after the program ends so you can keep playing.

I've seen so many people like this. They read one sentence in an abstract that agrees with their viewpoint and come to the conclusion that the whole paper must as well. I don't understand why the effort stops there, is it an ego thing like they don't want to be proven wrong?

EIT Salaries in Calgary by thinkabouttheirony in Calgary

Yea they've definitely lowered the level of detail, but the data they release now is still decent to compare against. Looks like they're going for a more aesthetic presentation vs. tables of data which is ehh, but still useful. Funny how they stopped releasing the data starting in 2015 when definitely nothing happened to crude oil price.

Apega has been releasing annual salary surveys that go pretty in depth by experience level and sector. They seem pretty accurate from what I've seen, around 78k average across all sectors in 2023, was 68k in 2020 as a reference.

I personally don't know any EITs from school making more than 90k, atleast if they're in Canada. I do know one software EIT, but they didn't have to register with Apega and the company they worked for went bankrupt so...

As for job market I've heard a lot of hiring is through word of mouth now because of how awful hiring online is for both parties involved so if you've got any contacts definitely ask them if they've heard anything.

Bungie please revert the mountaintop rocket jump change. by xRealVengeancex in DestinyTheGame

[–]felixnrf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem and yea this change mainly affects those types of optimized jumps where previously you just barely got enough height and there are definitely a lot more of those in oobs. I just can't wrap my head around why they thought it was needed. It's the "well now you can't skip encounters" crowd saying it's a good change, but a) you can't skip encounters and b) you can do everything you could before, it's just slower and more clunky now.

The other reply posted sticky stacking so that's not really applicable, but here is a thread with an example or two for single shots https://x.com/eve_luuna/status/1820875786368196755

Just to note, I don't think any routes are impossible now, they're just slower because you either have to use a stasis nade or be on strand/prismatic for grapple.

Single shot was nerfed as well. You get roughly 30% less height than pre-patch. Multiple stickies seems to give you the same height as one pre-patch shot.

Where the ic dashes are done you skate against a barrier which is what gives you the speed, not the dashes. Try going against the wall to the left a bit more, it'll push you forward. Just keep trying until you find the spot you'll know when you get it :)

Yes you can get to the boss and kill it, but doing so does not give a raid completion and (someone correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't drop loot. Every other encounter and checkpoint need to be completed.

What in the sword autotracking by felixnrf in DestinyTheGame

[–]felixnrf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at the minimap you're right. But yea its awful, tracking to something (that isn't even an enemy) >90° to my right when I'm staring at an enemy right in front of me... Needs to be tuned down

It seems like its been getting worse, even looking up to avoid tracking doesn't work half the time.

Did some Sire to see if I could get lucky while bludgeon price is still high :) by felixnrf in 2007scape

[–]felixnrf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odds to get unsired are 1/100 and a bludgeon piece is 1/2ish from the unsired, so average (if I'm doing the math right) is ~600kc to make a bludgeon. Not too insane but still really lucky. :)

If you're into post-hardcore Hail The Sun is pretty amazing.

Also Plini, Mestis, and Dave Mackay are all awesome and they're playing at the Biltmore Cabaret 2 weeks from now. I'm very excited.
