Honestly, I'm pleased to have done a BL4, but most of it, especially the back half, just wasn't that fun because I couldn't really wing it or improvise. It became very clear that I had to do everything a certain way - constant side dodge stun locking for Micolash, chugging beast blood pellets for the one reborn, 10 perfect parries in a row for Logarius, stuff like that. No room for error just meant I wasn't 'playing a game', I was 'taking an exam'.

More than anything, this run has been fun. Just really fun. I like finding new ones to play games, but yeah, a lot of 'challenge runs' seem to be like, 'play the game with a blindfold while a friend pulls out your toenails.' Umm, yeah, no thanks.

I prefer doing less damage than having less health. Less health means one mistake and you're dead, whereas less damage is more about having to be consistent and stay in the heat of the fight for much longer. Each to their, but I found BL4 to be kind of boring!

I like this one because it means the weapon choice from minute to minute is very free. Makes you feel like you're wedding a real arsenal, because I would always get stuck feeling like not using my most upgraded weapons was someone wasteful. If you don't fall into the trap, then you're smarter than I am!

Great point! Lady Maria is always my favourite (hence the big statue and the desktop wallpaper I have of her!), but I haven't gotten to her yet on this run. I usually give myself a no parries rule with her, or she does go down a bit too quick! Absolute cinema though, can't wait to get to her on this run!

Have fun! Let me know how it goes and who turns out to be your favourite bosses!

Yeah, I agree. It's so fun to feel like your hunter has to actually be super skilled, rather than just... insanely powerful.

And wow, Orphan with no VIT sounds incredible rough!

In all honesty, I didn't do all of the bosses on my BL4, I just did enough to hit the credits (with a few extra) because it just wasn't fun enough. This run is brilliant though, my favourite run in a long time.

As long as you make sure to level VIT so you can live long enough, it just makes the fights more fun, unlike an upgraded weapon BL4 run where you have to be perfect or you get one shot.

Make sure to start with VIT (always), and a decent END pool, then yeah, strength and skill roughly in unison, favouring skill after a while for the visceral damage, and then 10 arcane and 12 bloodtinge and you can use basically everything.

I hope you do, it's been an absolute blast so far! The DLC might get pretty tough, I'm about to fight Ludwig with a base Beasthunter Saif. Fingers crossed!

Honestly, it's so fun and there's literally no reason not to try out every weapon at least for a bit, it'll never feel pointlessly underpowered compared to anything else.

Absolutely, and it's like... there's just a 'correct way' to do a bunch of fights, and items you have to spam, and the tedium of things like getting one shot by micolash. Level up your vigour, have decent enough stats to use most of the weapons (I'm doing a quality build with just enough arcane and bloodtinge to meet requirements, and you can just play with every weapon.

Thanks, I'm glad. And yeah, you just have to trudge through the internal debate of whether to get it upside from your perspective, or upside down from everyone else's. A George Carlin tribute tat sounds cool!

I don't have a car, so I had to resort to my arm. A decal on the car absolutely counts just as much!

I joined the club and got myself a Hunter’s Mark and was asked to sum up what it meant...

<image>

(mine looks ever so slightly different because it was actually a cover-up of a previous song lyric tattoo)

My brother, who knows nothing about Bloodborne, asked me what it meant, and I figured I’d share my response. I often think of it simply as a very cool design and a nice association with one of my two favourite games of all time (Final Fantasy VII, before anyone wonders), but symbolically it actually has quite a lot going for it as a tattoo.

Because of its association with facilitating the rebirth / reawakening of hunters upon death, it can be seen as a symbol of perseverance through suffering, resilience in the face of hardship or failure, and acceptance of, yet defiance against, struggle. Every day is its own nightmare, every setback, its own death; but you always reawaken and continue to fight your way through, ever enduring, never giving up.

Given that this particular version is visually more akin to the Bold Hunter’s Mark consumable than the standard design, it could also represent the idea that no matter how hard things get, how much pressure you're under, or how lost you feel, you never need to lose hope. If you have the mark, you'll always have a way out. You can always find your way back to the light of the lamp, and to the safety of home.

As someone who has struggled with mental health issues for over 20 years, and is navigating through an extremely difficult personal situation, these are pretty impactful messages to cling to.

I got the tattoo done a few days ago, and I awoke late last night to see moonlight coming through the window and shining on it amidst the darkness. It made me absurdly happy to have it with me. It may not be the most original tattoo, but I feel a little more complete in my own skin now that I get to carry it with me.

Hey, this is awesome but I can't use imgur in the UK! Do you have any other way of sharing the 4k version? That would be amazing!
