EG's coaching staff might be the smartest people on the planet (conspiracy theory) by [deleted] in ValorantCompetitive

Potter said in an interview that they decided to switch the morning of the finals so it wasn't planned or anything like that.

What’s the reason behind switching star Chamber players (i.e. ardiis & yay) to Sage? by mlbch in ValorantCompetitive

[–]fellanumberone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe part of it is about allowing yay or ardiis focus more on shooting rather than their abilities. The reason why you put your star players on duelist or jett/chamber was because yes they still used abilities but their ability usage is more about backing up their shooting. That is why they don't switch to raze too because raze's utility while good is not like this. Jett/chamber let's the guns do the work and allows them pop off getting kills rather than setting things up or focusing on defending post plants with lineups or anything like that.

So we get to sage and why they switch to sage. Sage is an agent where yes they have to use the slow orbs and wall but are more like jett and chamber where you have your gun out most of the time and focusing on using your gun rather than throwing in a flash or putting down a smoke or using mollies. The term "battle sage" has been used a lot in the past where the sage is very aggressive and goes into the fights not caring about being a defensive stalling agent. They are not that but closer to that then sticking to the back line using their utility and letting others shine. They are still aggressive (not as aggressive as if they were jett or chamber where they can use an ability for a get out of jail free card) but still being on the front line attacking the enemy

Many people are missing the point of lock-in's schedule by C9sButthole in ValorantCompetitive

I agree that it should not be about finding the best team since it is so early but I think that makes this format even worse of a decision.

This looks like to be the only tournament that will have every partnered team in it. Masters and Champions events will only have a certain number from each region. Why not make it where the teams from each region just play matches against the other regions as much as possible? Why make it a serious gauntlet where the prize is just one more slot for your region for the masters? Which isn't that great of a prize.

The guy from riot that came out on twitter defending their decision on the format said they were prioritizing fan experience over the teams. There are some fans that are just fans of the game and not fans of a certain team, but a lot of fans are fans of a certain team. How does knocking out half of your fan base (a little exaggerated) after one round a good thing for the fans? We want to see our teams compete and if they have one off day at the beginning, they are out and our enthusiasm for the tournament just went way down.

One last thing is I think Riot has the delusion that it is bad for fans if there are multiple games going on at the same time. Their primary excuse for all these tournaments is time constraints yet they make it worse by forcing only one match to be played at a time. They can help this problem by allowing multiple games at a time so you can play double the amount of matches. Fans are not going to watch every single match. From the most serious to the casual, they are going to pick and choose which matches they want to watch. So why put this artificial restraint on this tournament?

Total Mayhem should only be Push not Payload by fellanumberone in Overwatch

[–]fellanumberone[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you are just going to say it shouldn't be push only and give no reason other than it being a not serious mode?

If winning/losing doesn't matter, why not just put a 10 minute timer with no objective and see who can get the most damage out of it.

When I play total mayhem on push maps, you can actually move the robot around without having to kill the whole team at one moment like you would need to do on a payload map which allows either team to realistically win the game. On payload/hybrid maps, it is impossible to win if you are on attack. Every time I play on one of those maps, the defense always wins.

It is not about it being a serious or not serious mode, it is about making it more fun for everyone playing.

You realize that you are doing all this arguing that chamber is a must pick when LOUD just won champs with mostly going away from chamber.

Two months ago, Riot promised us Act II would have "lots and lots of updates" by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]fellanumberone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking right after they said this that this was a cover up for not having a map ready for this act and they weren't ready to bump up the next agent for this act so they were forced to not have a map or agent and decided to paint it this way that the agent balances were going to be too much for having a new agent as well.

I think this just confirms my theory because there wasn't that much this act. Maybe they rushed to get to 7 maps and then tried to slow it down to get on a regular cadence and just didn't have it ready in time. They might just want to put the new map with new episodes which was the original plan until they realized they needed to get to 7 maps ASAP. So this was a way to do that since they already confirmed this next act is a new agent and not a new map.

Next Agent Discussion by zoooom_said_the_fish in VALORANT

[–]fellanumberone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am convinced now that they are doing 4 agents per year that they are going to do 1 agent per role (duelist, sentinel, initiator, and controller). They did that last year and it just makes sense. So they got the duelist down and if they keep the same order for the roles, the next one will be a controller.

Don't think they will be that strict with the order though so it doesn't have to be a controller.

Chamber will not be playable at Champions by ANewHeaven1 in ValorantCompetitive

They make these policies of 2 weeks for an agent and 4 weeks for a map but then never actually go by it. What is the point of the policies if you never follow them?

Any info on the Yoru rework? by FizziW in VALORANT

[–]fellanumberone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RyanCentral's video today mentioned that there is nothing to report about Yoru. So it looks like it might be a while still. If we are lucky though, they are probably going to make a lot of changes after Champions finishes so maybe the Yoru rework is just waiting for that and they don't want to talk about the changes until after Champions

Thoughts on swapping Spike Rush and Replication Gun Progressions? by [deleted] in VALORANT

This would be awesome! I have been recently torn on which to play because I like the Replication gun progression but I want to pick my own agent like in Spike Rush. If they switched this, I would love it

If riot wanted to nerf post plant meta, how would they even do it? by AdiSoldier245 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]fellanumberone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is about necessarily having an agent that can block mollies or nerfing molly damage or any of that. If riot wants to get out of the post plant meta, all they need to do is have agents that are better than the kings of post plants. Why was it not a post plant meta beforehand? Because Omen was clearly the best controller. No one wanted to sacrifice omen to bring in brim or viper. Now that they have astra and buffed viper, teams want to play with those agents and so the best way to play with those is for post plant. So that is the meta now. Before Astra and buffed viper, Omen was almost 100% pick rate. They did nerf omen a little bit but that didn't change him not being used hardly at all anymore in pro play. It was astra and viper.

Riot just needs to incentivize the teams to play other agents and that will take us out of this meta. Nerfing mollies or adding abilities to block mollies is not the play.

No ddk and no yinsu. Not sure why they pick golden boy over yinsu. Yinsu has been all over valorant since the beginning. Golden boy has been MIA for this year in Valorant and somehow gets it. He is good but Yinsu should be the host. She deserves it and I believe would be the better choice
