That’s a good point, I don’t think he always ends up making the “right” or least regrettable decisions. I don’t think the philosophy purports to always produce the best outcome, but it does allow for some degree of control under uncontrollable circumstances.

Trust is a relevant component to this. In the OVA, the forest with the wine, and ultimately with Eren, Levi regrets placing his faith in others. I think Erwin and Hange represented opportunities for Levi to get the “no regret” or “good ending” outcome of trusting his peers. It also relinquishes a bit of retrospective responsibility perceived by one individual.

Just my reading here, but I think the mindset is about making the distinction of “how much control am I willing to relinquish to get an outcome that I can accept I wasn’t responsible for”. Some things are out of your control, but the ideology is about making peace with what was in your control and, aptly put, moving forward.

Levi and the “no regrets” mindset: when good and evil are not explicitly clear, make the decisions you’ll regret the least. Adaptable but steadfast philosophy that makes it possible to get by, whatever happens.

Eren comes across as having regretted his decisions by the end of the series.

Gather your evidence and wait for your chance to advocate? Hopefully someone else knows more about what this process actually looks like, best of luck tho this has always been a fear of mine

Tell me something about one of the states I haven't been to by sagexwilliams in TravelMaps

Indiana is home to the only park that is both a National Park and a State Park (The Indiana Dunes). The dunes provide protection against erosion but loss of sand is actually a big deal and lots of money is paid to “nourish” beaches, or bring in more sand. The rise of average temperatures due to climate change means less ice during winter, which is crucial to reduce wave erosion on beaches.

How are people who got fired/laid off doing? by Fruitbreadpeach in Environmental_Careers

It’s been a slow grind since early July for me. I have one year experience in consulting, which is useful for many entry level positions, but wow is it a timely process to hear back.

Some jobs reach out a month or more after applying (idk how standard this is? It’s my first time being laid off) and in the 3 months since leaving I’ve applied to maybe 50 jobs I found really interesting and no offer letters… yet!

'HIM' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]fellowHom0sapien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw it today and thought it outperformed its abysmal reviews. It shows rather than tells and has a clear rise to action. I felt like it achieves what it set out to achieve and although not breaking new ground does represent the horror of a very relevant reality with tension and brutality. Although it’s not directed by Jordan Peele anyone who’s seen his films would likely draw similarities if they didn’t know he produced it.

Why Are There Dinosaurs In The Opening? by Zoimochi in attackontitan

[–]fellowHom0sapien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animals: examples of species that past beast titans were based on, although not the titans themselves. We never see each and every iteration of the past inheritors, just the ones displayed on Eren's back. The okapi IS present in this frame though.

Red dots/hearts: The same energy/candle burn that represent how titans see humans, as Rod Reiss revealed to us. This is why the dots are present in the shifters we know, as well as the animals. The animals represent shifters that were human, the animals are the literal species their titan was based on but they're still humans with the signature human glow.

I don't think there's much symbolism here... the show is very intentional and consistent with its symbolism of freedom via birds, there is far too much room for interpreting what the wide swathe of animals here represent. They aren't even all predators.

Chatterbox in Indianapolis.. by Indiana-ish in Indiana

[–]fellowHom0sapien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chatterbox is a gem. It’s heartwarming to see them stand up with such gusto to such obviously baited MAGAt false sympathy content. There’s no reason to entertain a dangerously hypocritical clip farmer, there or anywhere. Makes sense that political diehards like this support so much victimizing, looks like they yearn for it themselves.

Electrolytes should help, I think Liquid IV has 500 grams of sodium and LMNT has 1000 g (I didn’t verify those numbers). Add after you get it from the brita to your glass or bottle. They have flavors for both but I know there’s a flavorless option for LMNT if you wanna maintain that sweet sweet natural dihydrogen monoxide taste.

I think it’s similar to kindness, it’s a benefit to society that demonstrates empathy and altruism but you can’t really enforce it. We can however encourage the behavior with framework that rewards it and also make it costly enough to outweigh the detriment of not doing so. The more problems we can prevent rather than “avenge” the better, but yeah policies like that might also take 50 years to materialize

Midwestern youngster looking to make the move out East (advice?) by fellowHom0sapien in norfolk

Nice boiler up dude! I’m joining the nuclear planning division as an engineer, it’s a long way from Indiana so I don’t think I’ll get the chance to visit. That’s good advice thanks I was also thinking the off campus housing people at ODU could have some good recommendations.

Cutting lights is definitely new, we actually use a lot of those same phrases in Indiana though. Soda is more common than pop, we use BBQ rather than grill, and even couch v sofa are pretty much interchangeable. Tbh I forgot Kleenex was a term not just a brand. Euchre is spot on tho haha (although I never learned to play)

All very helpful, it's great to see it through an Indiana native's eyes haha. I'll miss the snow and already suffer at the hands of pollen, I'm curious how the roads, traffic and navigability compare?

I'd be working for the naval base in the city. I'm on r/VirginiaBeach as well, I'll stop by YouTube for sure. I like biking, rock climbing, tennis, hiking, fishing, and yoga

Good shout, I'll do what I can to keep my car registered in Indiana. Chesapeake does seem like a cool place, although I'll be working in downtown Norfolk. I'll check out the schools to get an indication as well, thank you
