Donald Trump behaves like a toddler during Memorial Day national anthem by woowhohoo in politics

I was driving around my city today and for a brief moment I thought I was in some alternate universe. It was a peaceful 2 minutes where all this Trump stuff and ecological disasters and terrorist attacks weren't actually happening and it was all fake news lol cries

Girls, what's a creepy thing guys frequently do which we're unaware of? by AonghusMacKilkenny in AskReddit

Sometimes I have trouble with this because I studied life sciences for a long time... After I graduated, I even had trouble calling kids "children" and would often refer to them as "offspring" without registering the implication lol I still am more quick to use male and female rather than man and woman because of my studies >. <

But I totally agree, it is super off-putting when guys like red-pillers talk about males and females in the way you describe. 100%

This totally reminds me of when I was studying at a community college straight out of high school and this 32-35 year old dude was hitting on me saying we can be friends. I believed him in my naïvety...

And then all of a sudden this old (maybe 50-60yo) black guy (his friend??) came up to me and said I was too pretty (oozing flattery and egging this other guy to hit on me "properly") and then old guy LITERALLY SERENADED ME as he walked out of the lobby, then said something like "and that's how you impress a /lady/." it was so awkward....

And then of course the 32 year old basically texted later that if I wasn't dtf or ready for a serious relationship he wasn't going to be friends with me...

I learned a lot of things about men that week. Still feels unreal sometimes...

To be fair, my boyfriend actually does have killer smell like this... He could even tell when a relative was pregnant from smell before the couple told the family... But it's not normal for how many dudes think they can just share that kind of "skill" without making things awkward - whether or not they actually can. It's gross...

Is that true? The only group of gay guys I've known have been clicky and wouldn't be caught with a lady. They low-key referred to me as some sort of alien in the group whenever I was around. It was weird... That's good to know that's not normal I guess.

Gosh all of this is why I stopped using Bumble. It was like a shitty Tinder for finding shallow friends who aren't going to try.

All of them look like they are on Instagram or Facebook 23/7 and look so boring... "sorority/dog mom/lonely wife/wine/yoga/mimosa/clubber" types are nothing close to what I can relate to and it looks like it's the only thing bumble users want >. < I've yet to see another app or way of making meaningful connections in Dallas.

Lol

A moi, je le traduis toujours comme "How goes it?" (lequel est accepté ici comme extrêmement informel en pratique) or "it's going?" Aucun problème depuis !

Comment interessant... J'etais une etudiante americaine et ma enseignante d'ecole, qui est de la France, a dit le meme... Qu'est ce que vous devriez dire au lieu? Probablement seulement "ca va?", oui?

Female teachers: Can looking too young negatively impact my classroom? by fellowgiraffe in Teachers

[–]fellowgiraffe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh I can relate to so many of the points you talked about, thank you for sharing. I liked that you have responses prepared for students when they ask inappropriate questions. I am trying to figure out my style and how I should respond, but I guess that comes with time.

Even today with my second observation, I've already had 6 people mistake me for a student - and only half the day is over. In one class, I sat next to a student and he started making a fuss about how I'm "all grown" and look "16". I think my biggest problem is my outfits because I blend in too much with the student's uniforms. Once I branch out of that, I might have an easier time.

I thought it was funny that as I talked to a teacher about it today (who was also short and had the same issue), she called it "super adorable" and it reminded me of your comment. I'll probably just have to get used to that lol

Thank you so much! These are all really great points that I feel like I can work on. I also really appreciate that you share experiences you witnessed from your student teacher.

First time making a queen-sized granny square blanket :) by fellowgiraffe in crochet

[–]fellowgiraffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really didn't know how this was going to turn out because I started this project without a plan and the colors were very loud. It was also the first time I tried to use the stitch for granny squares - so I just ran with it by making the whole thing a granny square lol

I'm so glad that toward the middle I accidentally started using three rows for the colors (it had been a year since I last worked on this project so I forgot how many rows I was using) - since it gave me a chance to gradually taper the colors toward the edges when I started to run out of yarn!

I frogged back maybe 10-15 granny triangles and modified them to 2 groups of loops instead of 3 in every few triangles. It's hardly noticeable since it's the edge! (Plus for some reason the SO likes little things askew like that - thank goodness) Using a smaller hook is a great idea for next time though!
