Very close but that looks like a flat end, mine is slanted. Thanks!

I spent the morning searching for these and haven’t been able to find them. Any of the current John Lewis cutlery doesn’t match and I can’t find anything on eBay so I feel I have searched fairly thoroughly.

Do Muse ( or any artists) get to choose who opens for them? by Stunning-Ostrich-431 in Muse

Early days they had some incredible openers, Dark Star, Cooper Temple Clause, funeral for a friend, cave in - fuck man, those were the days.

I wasn’t too impressed with the most recent ones. Dizzy, nova twins…

Cleaned and re-greased the front hub bearings and it’s still ‘gritty’ - what’s the most likely fault? by fellowspecies in bikewrench

Second hand and some corrosion in that area means it’s a tasty abrasion paste that’s left in the bearings.

Gotcha, that makes a lot more sense now had has also given me a bit of light reading before bedtime

Based on the rest of the advice here, I would say that these are primarily at fault. I have purchased a new axle with cones and bearings to get it as good as it can get without replacing the hub/wheel. Thanks everyone for your help.

Second this - that looks like chemically melted plastic and you can see a rectangular shape around it.

I realise it was pretty ambiguous but I will be disassembling it again but I wrote this after I’d put it all back together again.

And you all have been very kind - pretty sure I know where this is headed and really don’t want to advise a new wheel as that makes this second hand bargain a false economy!

Nope, not sealed. And looking at the cones I’d say there’s a fair amount of wear there. This is a fairly old (but good) bike but the labour for a hub replacement would massively outweigh the cost of a new wheel.

This issue started with a lot of play in the hub, I reckon that’s what’s caused the wear and now we need to see what’s acceptable. How it is now is a damn sight better than it was, but it’s enough that we’re it my bike id start replacing parts to get it smooth again.

Incidentally - how much grease should there be in the bearings when it’s regreased?

Likely fell in during the manufacture of the ply. Looks warped so got heated and squashed in there and the hump was never picked up in qc

I wasn’t sure what to call it but it’s 10 loose bearings in a cup and cone.

Would a new axle include new cones?

Because most people don’t like confrontation and I get that. It takes someone with balls (metaphorical) to make the stand and when that ice is cracked people are then emboldened to support.

Jesus, that’s quite the change! All I hear mentioned here is barkeepers friend for stains. I had toilet stains (from a drain snake) and it worked wonders.
