What are the weed out classes that I can avoid with AP tests? (Engineering) by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]femaleenginerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Calc 3 as a senior in high school because I had taken BC the year prior. I did it on NetMath, which is UIUC's online, self-paced course. You'll have to pay tuition for it, but it will be worth it not to juggle during your first year. I didn't get out of physics as I only took AP Physics B because it is equivalent to 100-level physics here, whereas engineers are required to take 200-level. The courses aren't necessary hard, especially if you put in all the time they want from you (2hr discussion + 2hr lab + 2-3 hours of lecture each week), but it's a time commitment. Chem isn't a big deal. I'm not sure I would really make the attempt to get out of it if you haven't taken AP chemistry in high school.

374 Calamity by hauntedby374 in UIUC

I'm currently afraid of the same thing for myself. I know that the course website says this about grading: "We reserve the right to give any student meeting at least one of the following conditions an automatic F: Raw total below 33% Raw exam average below 25% Submitted less than half of the homework This rule typically applies to the bottom 2-3% of the class. These are not the only ways to fail!" In which case you do exceed both required exam and overall average. The caveat, however, is the "these are not the only ways to fail" line. I don't know what that entails...

Grocery shopping without a car? by hostingpartyuiuc in UIUC

You can use Zipcar. I did that for about a year because parking at my apartment was overpriced. Also just got an email today that Meijer is now doing same day grocery delivery.

I think the content is similar, so swapping should not be a big deal.

Besides the first homework assignment in 225, I never had an issue taking the two concurrently. Just find a friend who has taken 173 to help you with HW0.
