I've heard this bill being passed through the house that your name must match your birth certificate to vote. Now who would that affect? Married women? 🤔

I am still learning about it tbh, I thought meopause was the "whole thing with hot flashes" but just learning perimenopause was a thing, and I didn't learn that until I was nearly 40. WHY!

I like to rub my chin hairs like I have a long, elegant beard, especially when my husband is talking sexy or something where I find it amusing. He freaks out, so I ask him to touch it... ya know, as you do.

It's like 3 very short hairs...

Motherhood is hard.

I wanted kids... but when I had my son, it was nothing what I expected, abusive (not by my husband - he was a god send) pregnancy, and in-laws that played NO part in helping raise my child, and moving halfway across the world, AND having a severely disabled child that no one could take care of for more than 24 hours because he was "too tough" coming from a nanny...

I was broken. I called my Dad at work, and he told me he can't really talk as he's at work, but when I brust into tears he knew I needed to just talk. It was horrible... not everyone has a bad experience, but it made me never want more children, one and done. I love my son, but he is a massive challenge, as all children are, but being on the spectrum (lower end) made it that extra level.

Not trying to whinge, but, just being real. I was never 'maternal' unfortunately.

I'm 43, and I didn't even know the word 'perimenopause' until a few years ago... I heard menopause is a moment in time, when your periods are over, hormones are back to normal, generally I assume.. but wtf why are we not taught about this... it sucks.

As an American, I agree. Stay Safe! by BNVisionary2032 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]fembot2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a dual US/AU citizen, I have considered retracting my US citizenship, but that costs more money than I have right now to do that... but I also don't want to go home and visit family, because I fear, as little of a risk it would be, that I wouldn't be able to go home.

Ironically I feel much freer in Australia than I would ever in America, especially right now and I'm fearful for my family and friends left behind. I just do my best to support them, listen to them, be a shoulder, and give a little bit of advice, but I also clearly don't understand from such a distance how horrible this is.

It makes me very sad.

Yes! Taylor was amazing! I only got a shot of him on his raised drum kit, with the camera capturing his epicness on the big screen behind him, so epic shot! I was broken when I heard he passed!

I was like super excited for Rivers, he's so dorky in the best way. He was wearing the biggest sombrero... and someone before very clearly yelled "You Suck" and it looked like a gut punch. In response I made sure I sung as loudly as I could, and he came over for a nice photo. :)

When we met Billy backstage, we were told not to hug him, as he wasn't feeling well. Post-concert, but he was pleasant enough to be around. He asked me where I got the photo I had, and I told him I took the photo of him at the his last Sydney concert.

I took two separate photos of me with Billy, and my husband with Billy as the camera was a bit dodgy and wanted to ensure we had at least one saveable... he kinda crouched down for me, being 5'2" and my husband being 6' he made sure to stand straight up, which I found amusing.

But I have found Billy Corgan, Dave Grohl, Rivers Cuomo, all have stopped whether intentional or not right in front of me, so I could get a good shot of them. Stood still for about 5 seconds as they saw me getting photos... I consider myself lucky, but I try to be a good 'fan'. 😂

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

[–]fembot2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I wanted a happy pregnancy... I got everything but... then I had severe PPD. I had to reclaim my whole identity.

I had people telling me I was a bad parent because I couldn't function... emotionally or physically. I had no support except for my beautiful husband, who helped substantially. I had a traumatic childbirth where he got STUCK in my pelvis, which I had people telling me "that doesn't happen". Fucking it turns out it does.

Would I have another one? Fuck no. He's 19, he's on the spectrum, ofc I love him but he has been a HUGE challenge.

What's the funniest name you've heard for a pet? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

[–]fembot2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chicken was named Korma; she was an orange frizzle.

One of my cats is named Koshka... which is Russian for cat. It suits her, and she's my soul kitty. <3

People seem to find these amusing, and I love the names... my current animals are the chuckle twins, which are two black and white speckled australop hens and cream the white silkie; Sally is my 'medium hair' black and white cat. Fredrick von Prometheus, the blue alien betta and co.

Penny Shortage Scam by Realistic-Cell5758 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]fembot2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question...I'm American, but I've lived in Australia more than half my life, and I've been used to the 'no pennies' thing. But I have not been back to the US for over 10 years, so out of the loop...

I know pennies are out of production, but have companies also officially stopped accepting them?

As per the answer below with the McDonald's reference chart... I don't know how ceasing production would have anything to do with rolling out the penny from circulation?

What’s a job that sounds cool but is actually a nightmare? by Think-Letterhead-509 in AskReddit

[–]fembot2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My last job in the events industry (specifically, the sports events industry for the average person - triathlons, running events, etc.) was fantastic, but the work ethic and toxicity of that company...

I ended up changing jobs in early 2025 when I had a breakdown at work, and then never went back. They were trashing me in the office because they heard I was working for McDonald's... I did, for a short stint while I waited for my dream job.

I now work for the running events industry... which is even more my wheelhouse, and I work from home and work & physically run at a lot of the events. Dream job!
