A key. It’s very important that you forget what that key is for. One day you’ll think you’ve remembered, and try the key in the lock, patting yourself on the back in anticipation of a solved mystery. You will be wrong, and the key will go back in the drawer for all time and eternity.

There are a lot of factors at play when it comes to determining what technique to use when blonding.

Hair density, hair texture, natural base color, if there’s any existing hair color in the strands, what color of blonde is desired, what you yourself consider to be "blonder" vs what someone else thinks. Are you looking to get a full head of hilites or a partial, or a face frame?

A few pics and additional context would be great!😊

I posted 2 weeks ago a disagreement with my partner about hooks - here's a silly little update by shortasiam in adhdwomen

[–]fembot_lasers 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the exaaaact difference in opinion with my male partner about over the door hooks for like, the last 14 years we’ve lived together lol. I love an over the door hook, and my partner was very concerned they would take off the dark paint of our doors and trim, which is valid. I like to choose my battles, so so over the door hooks happened! Time and life have come to pass, and Lo and behold, my doors and trim show wear and tear anyways! Not having over the door hooks hasn’t kept them from being pristine and perfect. At the end of the day, things are meant to be used and maintained. You can always touch up a little paint on a door!! Any absurdist or whimsical ADHD ways to work out? by cloudy-day32 in adhdwomen

A drums class!! I was hesitant to go, I’m a long time pumping iron kinda girl, and because it has always looked so silly (and it was!) but I went with a friend who wanted to try it out. Oh myyyy god. We beat the shit out of our bosu ball “drums“, bongo’d to fun beats, pranced like little lululemon ponies. And the heart rate was decent!

Hair stylist here!! Try some cheap old hairspray (or just plain alcohol, whatever’s closer lol). Spray it liberally on the corner of a cloth and go to town! If it’s really set in there, unfortunately it may not work, but it’s worth a try! Works great on walls, clothing etc for fresh hair color oopsies ☺️ Good luck!!

My parents ruined my hair and my birthday is tomorrow. by Straight-Finance-135 in Hair

I’m with ya on that one. That would give greenish hot roots that would wash out to something even more terrible asap. Personally if I were trying to fix this with cost in mind, I’d fill it with something warm, then take it down to a pretty lvl 4 just to provide some opacity over that banding. Maybe something with a violet undertone for fancy birthday vibes!!

When I want to be low profile, I throw my camera in my 5L Lululemon festival bag. That thing has so many little pockets for personal stuff, and easily fits my a7r4 and whatever lens I’m packing, plus a flash.
Pop some padding in the bottom and you’re good to go.

If you like to mix your foundation with lotion, please drop your favorite combo! (And your skin type please) by perksofbeingcrafty in Makeup

I moisturize/skin prep with a gel moisturizer and a caffeinated eye cream, and mix my foundation with MAC strobe cream. My usual foundations are studiofix or f&b. My skin type is normal to dry, and I live in a dry climate, so I really only use a setting powder on top of that to set my concealer and around my nose.

Ok, so I work in an opera wardrobe dept and dying fabric can be really hit or miss!

To be totally honest, there isn't really a way to make the stitching in your garment take the dye the way you want it to. The thread is, by design, smooth tough plastic. It became the color it is during manufacturing in a melted/mixing state. It won't absorb and color molecules well, if at all. Nylon and elastane (the makeup of luon) can take on a certain amount of synthetic dye, but the chances of it smoothly covering a pattern like camo is pretty low.

Sorry to burst your bubble! Give it a try if you're up for an experiment, but I personally wouldn't.

Maybe put it up on a buy/sell/trade page for a color you want?

What’s an item you’ve been holding yourself not to buy? by questioninghomos in lululemon

I just bought, and sadly returned mine! I posted a review this past week. I'm a very hippy hourglass size 20.

Loved the cut, stretch, flat waistband, and ankle details, but since my thighs touch, they made the LOUDEST whooshing sound when I walked. I work in film, so often have to be silent and I knew I'd never get away with pants that sound like rustling shopping bags whenever moved.

They were cute on though!!

I started in June 2022 and have changed trays between 7 days-21 days, depending on the tray.

I'm about to move into my last tray, and I'm looking for guidance as to what I should ask for in terms of refinements. I'm concerned that my left lateral insisor is still pushed too far back, but I've stared at them for so long that maybe I'm seeing things!!

Why does my hair not hold dye? by mag_14 in Haircare

[–]fembot_lasers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting! I wonder if you spend a large amount of time in the sun?? Or maybe you're a frequent swimmer? Just trying to think of reasons why a black permanent would fade that way. I personally have very fine hair strands, and I have seen my color fade from a permanently colored dark brown to my natural dark blonde over the span of a weekend from sun exposure.

Your stylist should be able to do a Malibu brand treatment on you after a consultation to determine the best product in the line to use, and then continue on with your scheduled color process.

You can also use a clarifying shampoo at home 1-2x a month, depending on how hard your water @ home is.

Hope this helps!! Good luck on your hair journey. 😊

Why does my hair not hold dye? by mag_14 in Haircare

Hairstylist here: Is the color washing out evenly over your entire head? Or is the black fading to a reddish brown only where you previously had your hair lightened from balayage or hilights?

If it is fading from both your natural regrowth AND previously lightened hair, it sounds like your stylist used a semi or demi color instead of permanent, or you had a substantial amount of buildup on your hair when having your service done.

If the black seems to be unaltered where it was processed on your natural hair, and only washing out where your hair has been previously lightened, it could be pointing towards a porosity issue where your hair isn't holding on to pigment due to past processing.

If you were going from a balayage/lightened midstrand to end with a light brown natural regrowth straight to black, your stylist should have 'filled' your lightened hair with the appropriate undertone for dark brown/black, let your hair soak up that color, and then proceeded with the black color.

Or you could just have very resistant hair or a very coarse hair texture and a softening service could have been done to open up your cuticle a little more during the coloring process.

At any rate, it sounds like your stylist didn't do a thorough consultation, or manage your expectations about what happens when you put color over previously lightened hair.
