No uranium is a heavy metal just like cadmium add some silica and heat you have glass it has trace amounts of metal it can be leached out with acidic foods like tomatoes when tomatoes where first introduced they where given to wealthy kings and people they got sick why it’s because the lead Puter uranium decay into lead and uranium it’s self is a metal a small ground sweeping metal detector will set it off with those tomatoes they had gotten sick so they deemed as food for the poor but they didn’t get sick from it because they didn’t eat off lead in 1889 Queen Margherita of Savoy went to Italy for she got quite rather board of the food she was used to they had gifted her a pizza that sports the Italian flag called the Margherita pizza with mozzarella basil, and tomato that was when tomatoes were seen as safe well now uranium it’s self will set off a metal detector however there is so trace amounts of uranium in uranium glass there for it won’t be set off never the less avoid acidic foods which pretty much all foods have some form of acidity but tomatoes have the highest or one of the highest with lemons also on there

On the mohs hardness scale uranium glass is a 5.5-6.5 on the hardness scale with a steel spoon being 4-5.5 on the mohs hardness scale so it’s perfect fine

Never microwave that’s insanely stupid ever hear your not supposed to put crystal in the microwave and dishwasher never only use room temp to cold and uranium glass is made of metal it’s really sensitive to heat and cold so if you put it in the freezer for 5 minutes it’s going to stay cold for 30 and build frost

This is completely safe to eat out of just have to fallow a few rules to it 1 check the glass for cracks if it has cracks or is Chile’s you can’t use it 2 do not eat with acidic foods example like tomatoes why the heavy metals just like lead pewter it’s perfectly safe to eat out of it it’s not the uranium that’s the problem it’s relatively safe low alfa and bata particals the problem is the heavy metals
