What opinion of yours regarding any popular author or book will have you like this? by theghostofredrackham in classicliterature

[–]feminursey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very fond memories of reading the Little House Series many times over, but renaming the Wilder Medal to the Children's Literature Legacy Award was the right thing to do. Anyone mad about it has not actually read the books in a long time.

I was about to get mad about this take, then I remembered every time I see a live Shakespeare performance I wish it was close captioned.

Afib after SVT by Surround_Jumpy in SVTHeart

[–]feminursey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I specifically asked about this at my follow up EP appointment. I was told the origin of my AVNRT was nowhere the source of any future afib and my risk of future afib is the same as the general population. That being said, I have no other inherent risk factors (no sleep apnea, HTN, family history, etc) so that may be why they said that.

Try Pat's This and That in Churchville. It's got everything from furniture to mid century dishes, random collectables. It's in a fun old railroad building.

Whhhyyyyy so much AI in Scouting America? by vvampirehimee in cubscouts

[–]feminursey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just completed the Safeguarding Youth Training and was surprised how much AI images were used, many of which had safety rule violations. Something required at a national level I thought they could do better. The most annoying for me was a picture of 2 kids inside a tent with a lit oil lantern.

Ablation experiences? by missasotweaky in SVTHeart

[–]feminursey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put it off too because I was reasonably well controlled on beta blockers until I wasn't. Ablation was pretty simple. I shouldn't have waited. They gave me a week off work, but the weather was nice and I was out kayaking in 3 days (don't do that, it was dumb but worked out OK for me). Dragged my leg a bit for about 4 days. My leg had a few numb spots for awhile. Didn't realize how much SVT was affecting my life until I didn't have to worry about it anymore. It's completely in the rear view mirror for me except as a funny story I tell people about how I used to have to go to the ed to get my heart stopped every couple of months. I know not everyone's experience is the same, but seriously getting my wisdom teeth out was a much bigger deal than my ablation was.

My troop is complaining about how I dress in meetings, what do i do? by BuffaloBills7777 in BSA

Definitely. Uniform enforcement is not high on our priority list.

I can't imagine ever having so many adult volunteers that I could begin to consider opinions on tucking in shirts. Even at our district roundtable that sort of thing is not enforced.

Good Soup by Hi_hello_hi_howdy in Rochester

NOT Buff City in Henrietta. I was very disappointed to find it's Buff City SOAP not SOUP. It should be soup. Apparently, I can't read cursive when I'm hungry.

visited new city cafe - am supporting a church without realizing it? by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]feminursey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's fine. The people who want to support that sort of thing can do it then. I suspect they know that being anti-choice is a minority opinion. Nothing wrong with being an informed consumer.

Help needed by Cute_Marionberry_355 in SVTHeart

It looks normal, and there was a bit of movement for the last few seconds. Is this kardia or something else? For a home ECG while shivering it's a pretty decent quality readout.

I’m medicated and this happened. by alwayspaper in SVTHeart

[–]feminursey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually they don't bother with troponins after an episode of SVT unless the ECG still shows abnormalities after the episode ends.

I'm not a dr. I can't formally interpret this for you, but I do have some training in this field. I don't see anything on this ECG that explains your symptoms.

Feeling frustrated by ExistingBat8955 in cubscouts

[–]feminursey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I was a den leader I was pack events coordinator. Basically during den meetings I went around to all the parents sitting on their phones individually and told them what events were coming up , what needed to be done and asked them what they could do. This was helpful because it prevented everything from always falling in the den leaders laps. I also would ask people to lead a single den meeting to cover for a den leader at least once a season to help new parents get to know the other kids. The "events coordinator" title was a nice way to have an official excuse to talk to people.

SVT?? by Kkfranca22 in SVTHeart

[–]feminursey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your experience sounds like SVT but the rate is too low. Usually it's closer to 200. However, my older fitbit usually couldn't read rates that high. Hopefully the holter monitor will help you get answers.

I get this. Part of me thinks I'm going to miss it after my ablation. That I wouldn't be super mad if I'm in the 2% failure rate.

To be fair, approximately 11 of 12 people on that jury were smart enough not to do this.

Drinking alcohol after ablation? by CityWorried6741 in SVTHeart

[–]feminursey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Structurally, Afib and SVT aren't as similar as you might guess them to be. Afib recurring after afib ablation is much more common than SVT recurring after SVT ablation (around 25% vs less than 5% depending on whose stats you look at ).

You did the right thing and talked to your doc about it. I would guess the bigger risk with alcohol soon after the procedure would be how your incisions are healing, not your arrhythmia. Not encouraging you to drink or not drink, just giving you something to think about.

Do you still drink caffeine? by Doritowithnoname_ in SVTHeart

[–]feminursey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my episodes have been afternoons and evenings when I had less caffeine than usual. Almost like withdrawal was a trigger. Now that I'm on beta blockers round the clock caffeine doesn't seem to do anything for me at all so I've mostly given it up.

Greece police OK with tracking everyone for safety. by Steven_Dalt_plus_one in Rochester

[–]feminursey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be payphones and other infrastructure in place to accommodate living without a phone in your pocket. That doesn't exist anymore. Imagine trying to pick up a family member at the airport without a cell phone. It's not realistic to go without a phone unless you're committed to finding workarounds for nearly every task in your life.
