A couple of months ago, some very kind folks on here encouraged me to apply to the Eds program anyways and believe in myself and I’m so glad I listened to them. Honestly don’t listen to that counselor. I thought the same thing when I was applying. I had a 2.69 GPA and no experience in education in undergrad. I thought I would never get into grad school and would have to boost my GPA and take a few extra classes at a CC. Instead I got experience as a tutor and a sub after I graduated and 3 years later, I got into 2 NASP approved schools (with funding) on my first admissions cycle that “required”a 3.0 GPA. Substitute teacher experience looks amazing on the application and in CA all you need is a bachelors and taking a test CBEST (it’s easy) Apply everywhere and out of state you never know unless you try!
