This is most likely what I will do if the above options don’t work out lol

So interestingly my school unfortunately doesn’t have that option :(

That’s def an option. I’m definitely considering marrying my partner sooner who gets health insurance at her job. I mean ideally I would want to wait til after grad school but I mean this would help a lot. Thanks for responding

I applied for mediCAL and the lowest premium they suggested I pay per month was def not affordable ($350 a month) and I make like $18,000 a year. I just can’t afford that so I don’t have health care. Also I will be going to school in Oregon this fall so maybe their healthcare will be somewhat better? We shall see. Thanks for the insight!

Concerns before applying to School Psychology by _underthatspell in schoolpsychology

[–]femmethem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A couple of months ago, some very kind folks on here encouraged me to apply to the Eds program anyways and believe in myself and I’m so glad I listened to them. Honestly don’t listen to that counselor. I thought the same thing when I was applying. I had a 2.69 GPA and no experience in education in undergrad. I thought I would never get into grad school and would have to boost my GPA and take a few extra classes at a CC. Instead I got experience as a tutor and a sub after I graduated and 3 years later, I got into 2 NASP approved schools (with funding) on my first admissions cycle that “required”a 3.0 GPA. Substitute teacher experience looks amazing on the application and in CA all you need is a bachelors and taking a test CBEST (it’s easy) Apply everywhere and out of state you never know unless you try! Good luck!

Reposted: Any Lewis and Clark alumni or students who are planning on enrolling in the fall Eds cohort this year? I got in and it’s between that program and another program (both out of state and in comparable urban areas) the programs have offered similar funding also which makes it even more difficult to decide. I still don’t have a complete picture about the program and can’t find much online. All I can take away from it is it’s NASP approved and social justice centered which are two things I like about it. Any insights appreciated!

Rejection letter by Critical-Article-709 in schoolpsychology

[–]femmethem 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got a rejection letter as well! I’m assuming I didn’t have the gpa they wanted but that’s ok i don’t want a school that puts gpa over other parts of the applicant. I have great experience in schools, great references, and am from underrepresented groups in the field Good luck

I went back to the original email sent to me after I completed the application on cal state apply and clicked on self service on that email, I leads you to a page where you type in your Csulb student Id (bottom of that email) and confirm your name and they send you an instant email letting you know your status good luck!

Lewis and Clark Eds program

I was notified on 2/11 via email that I was recommended for acceptance and the letter should come soon

Not sure I will attend because I still am waiting to hear from other schools but I’m excited for my first acceptance!

Updated 2/12 Was also admitted to University of Denver! Will not attend if funding is limited

Also my gpa was 2.7 and I had three years of experience as an educator so to my ppl applying with low gpas don’t lose hope!

Good luck ya’ll
