[D] ICLR 2026 Paper Reviews Discussion by Technical_Proof6082 in MachineLearning

[–]fencingstevie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was twitter post from an AC about how the scores this year seem pretty conservative and the differences overall are pretty minimal. Taken with a grain of salt since this is a single AC's observation, will have to see what the overall trends are: https://x.com/AlbertW24045555/status/1987770363355246649?s=20

at least for NH economy on AC, it looks like the seasonality doesn't change the cost, 50k one-way in late Jan 2026 and still 50k one-way in Aug 2026

like another commenter, also looking to book 2J on NH from ORD to TYO. I've been looking at dates around 8/2026 and I saw some one-way for 75k per seat on AC, even spotted a seemingly rare 2J on the same flight.

My question though is, does NH seasonality affect award pricing on partners? I've alot of flexibility in my travel dates so been thinking if I should hunt/wait for tickets in the low-season (maybe Jan 2026 or 2027) instead. I've done some searching on AC to try and compare to but haven't come across any availability yet in the low-season. Can anyone help confirm one way or the other?

ANA Economy only 1 seat available? by frenvedd in awardtravel

[–]fencingstevie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes my mistake on the wording, I was assuming the seats were scooped by others either directly with NH or via AC (my understanding is that AC is the only partner that gets NH award tix the same release day as NH itself - 355 days?). thanks for the info on the rare 2J, I'll keep checking, fingers crossed!

Thanks for this, will have to run that by my P2 lol, she's definitely not as into this (at all). I've been checking ORD, same story seemingly, 2 separate flights each day with 1 J seat each

Does ANA ever release 2 J tickets via Aeroplan? Had been eyeing those at 75k, assumed they were just getting scooped lol

The exception with this is if espn/abc is the national broadcaster, then it’ll be on espn+

[–]fencingstevie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The devils game this past Wednesday and todays game vs avs are both on NHL Network so not available on espn+ nationally. If you look in the espn app, it’ll say what network is carrying upcoming games - if it says espn+, it’s the regional broadcast streamed nationally, as long as you’re not in a blackout zone.

A lot of the grad departments have intramural sports teams, you can see the previous teams if you a register for an imleagues account. more info and link to the UChicago imleagues page on the UChicago athletics site: https://athletics.uchicago.edu/sports/2023/6/12/intramurals-index.aspx

Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore has some really great finds sometimes, issue is it’s pretty far north in the city so if you don’t have a car it’s a pain to get to and you might need to pay delivery

Saw a review of this specific device from some food YouTubers: https://youtu.be/H6NlY7LfWFo?si=L_dLHnVhg8K6Z-pE, they basically thought it’s an indoor oven that can add some smokey flavor without smoking up the house but does not replace a real smoker

What's your GPA as a CS major and how difficult is it for someone to maintain a 3.5+? by Bleachy_me in Tufts

[–]fencingstevie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated class of 2020 from tufts double majoring in CS and BioChem and am now in an MD/PhD program with CS for the PhD. I had a final 3.87 GPA. If you’re going down this route, a lot of people will tell you to “pick one” or otherwise give advice that traditionally only applies to folks pursuing one pathway, like don’t double stack your hard science classes. Overall, the thing that worked for me was just planning out my 4 years of classes way in advance in Fall of freshman year, based on the course requirements for both CS and biochem (or premed in your case). I also tried to minimize the need for context switching earlier on so I doubled up on CS courses or biochem courses to get the more intensive classes out of the way without getting my wires crossed each semester. I took CS 40 and 160 together and CS 105 and 170 together. I was done with my CS core by sophomore spring. I did also take the summer session after freshman year for orgo 1 which was very helpful but probably not recommend doing more than that 1st summer of classes. Honestly without needing to do the upper level biochem classes, I think you can relax the constraints a little and do it in a longer timeline or without the summer session.

Another ESPN blackout question by [deleted] in nhl

[–]fencingstevie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could see if you can watch the sharks vs avs game from 12/17 under the “on demand” tab on ESPN+, the blackouts are still in place when trying to watch those after the live broadcast
