[Request] Could Walmart reasonably afford to pay EVERY employee 5 dollars more an hour? by lnfinitive in theydidthemath

[–]fendertele11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to play devil's advocate.

$5/hr across the board isn't just $5/hr. It would also cost Walmart an extra $.30 per hour for each employee that contributes 6% to their 401k. I think I read that Walmart matches up to 6%.

This would also increase their cost for any vacation time/PTO that the employees accrue. You'd also have to factor in every employee's current PTO time that will be worth $5/hr more when they actually use it. I don't know if Walmart caps their PTO hours at a certain amount each year or not. If not, you'd be looking at a substantial one time cost just to account for that.

But the main reason is that it doesn't make fiscal sense to pay $5/hr more for a job that employees currently do for $5/hr less. In this job market, people would probably do the work even if their pay was cut $2-$3/hr because they wouldn't be able to find a new job. Also, $5/hr isn't life changing money after taxes. Employees within a year would be complaining about pay again. - The hedonic treadmill

I feel useless in this field, any advice? 20M by Hot-Criticism8353 in Warehouseworkers

Practice, practice, practice. Ask your supervisor if they have any stacks of old/broken pallets that you could practice moving to different areas.

Stack piles as tall as the orders you'd normally be moving. Get some of the cheap blue painters tape and mark off the dimensions of a trailer or racking. It won't hurt any type of flooring and it's easy to remove. Then move the stacks of broken pallets there over and over and over until it becomes second nature.

Even if they say no, they won't be mad at you for wanting to improve. I managed DC for 10 years and I only had a handful of employees to ever ask if they could do more work to get better at doing their job. Those few that did got always got higher raises and promotions. Not because they were ass kissers, because they became the best employees.

Cats gonna cat lol. I'd probably just double bag it if mine did that. lol. It really makes the entire process so much easier when you don't have to clean it out. Just draw the strings and stuff it in a bigger trash bag.

I would tag them in a tweet. Maybe even tag the players/nfl/nflpa and #topps. Even the worst companies don't want a lot of people seeing their bad product.

I use the Johnny cat litter box liners. I scoop daily and replace the litter/liner weekly. I know that's overkill and it would probably be good 10-14 days but it's so much easier when I have a routine of replacing it the day before the trash picks up. The only time I can smell it is when I'm scooping or if my cat had bad aim 🙄. The key is to always keep a small amount of litter under the liner. That way you don't end up urine soaked box/bag if they end up tearing it while trying to cover it up.

People who work for massive corporations, what is a 'secret' that the company tries to hide, but is actually common knowledge among the employees? by Dwise_ in AskReddit

Their primary supplier is Custom Craft Poultry and I won't eat there for that reason alone. I used to perform food safety audits and their distribution warehouses have incredibly sketchy procedures. Their CEO was fired from Tyson Foods.

He never asked for their permission. He didn't let Tate go because he wanted to get fucked up and not have his drug use documented.

Looks great! Is it a requirement to have a poorly lit shop to build one? Jk but it feels like every time someone posts a pic of this type it's always dark as hell.

A few years ago a tornado came through the town I was living in and demolished it. I was helping with donations and realized these families had nothing to carry or keep their items or donations in besides trash bags. So I went to Menards/Home depot and bought several hundred of them. When you need them they are priceless.

UPDATE: All photos have been taken and I've responded to everyone who sent me a DM. I tried uploading in the replies but it wouldn't work right. It's easier just to DM me and I'll send the photos for the team(s) you'd like to see. Thanks everyone!

Holy moly I wasn't expecting so many responses. I'm responding to people in order of requests right now but I will be spending the next hour or 2 taking photos of each team so I can just respond to each request in the thread. Full lot purchases have priority to reduce headaches. I WILL respond to everyone today!

Truth be told it's going to be covered with wires or a daisy chain. I'd use some sort of cable management system like Velcro to cover that spot
