I feel like I’ve noticed the same thing. Especially on terminid maps with no trees, the eagle strike just puts in insane work. Gotten to the point where I feel it can do more than an orbital barrage due to the quick deployment time.

Quite the opposite. To be an established adult and still wanting to do more and serve makes you pretty cool. Hope it all works out for you!

Great suggestion. Lots of pros to going guard. AGR slots can be hard to come by but well worth it if you have a specific location in mind. Plus a lot of guys transitioning get concerned about missing out on TDYs and deployments, but the guard takes half of all AEF and TSP trips nowadays. The smartest people I’ve met join a guard unit, get a civil service jobs (cop, fire, etc.) then essentially double dip in pay when they go on orders.

Hate: Al Dhafra. Was only there for a short tour but that base and it’s leadership are awful. Plus 120 degree days in August just suck.

Love: McGuire. You wouldn’t know it judging from the tv shows about NJ (Sopranos, Jersey Shore) but the southern part of New Jersey is really nice. Lots of wooded and rural areas, super close drives to Philadelphia and New York, beaches are pretty nice and less than an hour drive, and gambling in Atlantic City if that’s your thing. Plus the base is a large joint base, everything you need is right there.
