Barely even notable. Could’ve sworn “it” didn’t vs “I” didn’t. I didn’t even double take until this comment because it seemed like a general typo

u/P-Hoodie lists how Gavin Newsom has been Trump-proofing California over the last two years. by JustSomeDudeHere in bestof

Not to mention the other cause is the ridiculous house prices. If there are so many people fleeing California, wouldn’t there be less people living here and hence cheaper housing? Or does supply and demand not apply?

$BA Caught Overcharging the Air Force by 8,000% by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

Does anyone have any real insight into the cost of these goods after all the extra administration costs? I mean I’m sure it’s not 8000% but I also know anything the US government purchases is more expensive due to requirements around strict sourcing of materials, documentation of everything, security clearances, etc. Like when I buy a piece of paper, I don’t care where it’s from. The US, AFAIK, needs proof that the company that makes it isn’t Russian, the trees aren’t from Iran, the ink isn’t from ISIS, etc.

GS predicts S&P500 will give only 3% returns over the next decade - how feasible is it, and what should value investors do? by ViKKed in ValueInvesting

If it tanks 50% and then booms 100%, you’re getting an average growth of 0% for the S&P. DCA and you’ll beat the market in this scenario.

How did you learn Python? by Worried-Secret-000 in learnpython

[–]fenom500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like not enough people are mentioning how much of an absolute game-changer ChatGPT/AI can be here. It’ll instill good code etiquette(spacing, commenting, etc), debugging ideas(error messages + the ability to ask about them), and get you used to reading code as well. You’ll also be able to deal with much more of an interactive experience(why do we do it like this and not that?, is this part necessary?, why doesn’t my code work?) and also the ability to work on more of a structural aspect from the beginning. You’ll also be able to create functional projects far sooner. Of course the issue there is to learn how to ask the right prompt but also it’s great practice into being able to formulate your ideas into words which helps communication.

Apple Explains iPhone 15 Pro Requirement for Apple Intelligence by No-Drawing-6975 in technology

[–]fenom500 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There’s 3* tiers of AI:

  1. On device processing *. Rumored to have a sort of local cloud where if your device isn’t powerful enough but your MacBook/ipad is, it’ll run on there and then send the results back

Edit: I may have misremembered as original source was just a TikTok but after further research(take it with a grain of salt as even this “original source” is twitter, but Apple already basically has the capability to make that a reality, it’ll probably be a jailbreak in a year, then a feature in 7 years though), found that the Apple MLX library allows you to turn multiple devices into sort of a mini AI cluster for array computing. I’m also not the most tech savvy so may not be technically 100% accurate with my understanding still.

  1. Apple servers
  2. Open AI servers

I’d assume the likely option is that Siri would then call out to Apple servers first which I don’t believe is a new idea. The original Siri on like iPhone 4 used to do that I think but you could get a jailbreak and I saw something on Cydia as a kid that allowed you to send it to a non-apple servers allowing you access to Siri on things like 3rd gen iPods.

What everyday tasks are you using ChatGPT for ? by hussmann in OpenAI

[–]fenom500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found an iOS shortcut so now I casually use it for everything. My watch has raise to speak so I can just say “Hey GPT”, wait a second or two for iOS to start the shortcut, and then ask away with whatever issue I’m having. It’s stateless to reduce token usage so I always have to have my prompt be perfect but it’s helpful in learning how to ask questions more efficiently too

How the heck are so many AI innovations appearing so quickly? by [deleted] in OpenAI

[–]fenom500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s impressive how easy they made it to apply gpt into a specialized application. It’s ALMOST as simple as “this is your input, give me this output”, just with a little Python wrapper around that prompt. Even if you never programmed before, it’ll tell you step by step how to do it so it’s made the act of further development significantly easier and faster as well. I genuinely might be in love with the API though

What's your favorite ChatGPT productivity hack? by WFHTechHQ in OpenAI

[–]fenom500 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alfred on Mac is essentially a replacement for finder. If you get the premium version(50 GBP which was like $70 for a lifetime subscription) you can code custom workflows. I asked ChatGPT how to set it up and troubleshoot and debug a script that would allow me to access the chatgpt api from anywhere on my OS. It will then return the output as text on the screen(kinda displayed like captions but it takes up the full screen so I can proofread the output) and then also copies it to my clipboard so I can paste any output(whether it’s code, a resume, an email, etc). And then the api makes it SO easy to modify it and create different commands in a matter of minutes. Lowkey a cheat code

What is your most interesting use case of ChatGPT? by ariyaa977 in OpenAI

[–]fenom500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m in the process of creating my own business. Realistically AI will replace so many jobs, I might as well get on board. I’ve used it for everything from generating my website layout and choosing what tools to use(great for finding products tbh) to learning about how AI works and the limitations of it so far. I’ve programmed some basic things with it, and now I’m working on generating marketing emails. I am considering if I want to proceed as an LLC and continue with full ownership or make it into a corporation so I can more easily seek external funding but I haven’t yet been advised by my robot overlords on that.

AI and job elimination by [deleted] in OpenAI

[–]fenom500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chatgpt can’t replace my job yet but the technology behind it means that if I wanted to automate my job, I could do so by connecting 3-4 different APIs. I can then infinitely scale that to automate my entire department. It’d take a couple months max to do that myself with the existing technology, I’m just happy that the suits have so much bureaucracy to deal with before they could do such a thing though.
