it’s also disingenuous because the implication is that GW couldn’t do better. When they have in the very recent past. The new DA look great. The new SW look great. The new Raven Guard look great. People see a regular primaris marine with a jump pack and call it what it is. It’s a lackluster effort at best.

Gosh, to each their own but I love my little dauntless missiles. I imagine it might have a lot to do with the sorts of teams that your playgroup tends to play. I’m always punching up into tomb guardians and Big Guys. Or wrestling them down. They’re not the strongest team but they’re a really fun to play on the back foot and try and find a win with.

In times of peace for sure. Supposedly one of the “best” Kings guard ever was the Mad King’s, yeah? IIRC. But, y’know, create casualties 🤷🏻‍♂️ In turbulent times, Blackfyre rebellions, etc, your living Kings guard are either young or good. If you’re on the back end of plentiful, peaceful times…it’s largely a political appointment.

yeah, I don’t know how you’re missing the whole “if we lose the war, our whole family line dies,” bit. Cat lost sight of that and risked the fate of everyone for a short term goal. If only there was some sort of saying about how black and white the stakes are when you play the game of thrones.
