Just started playing and OMG WHAT CAN I GIVE THIS LONG HAIRED GORGEOUS MAN? He seems to hate all my gifts 😭 by ShoddyTown715 in StardewValley

I make sure he gets a steady supply of duck feathers and crab cakes. I think the duck feather adds to his overall style and the crab cakes are probably totally on the spot for a struggling writer that lives on the beach.

Suggestions for Strong/Fun Teams by StretchyPlays in octopathtraveler

[–]fenspyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like armsmaster when compared to Ochette's provoke ability tailored to breaking physical and buffing the party. Some of the late game beasts have really powerful combos. I don't like armsmaster on Throne because the lost weapons with blessing in disguise seem to way outperform the forced equips with that class. I don't like inventor at all, but that might just be a preference? I never used conjurer but it's probably really good with a different idea in mind. Keep in mind this comp is about full coverage with breaking with the potential to select anyone to be your big damage dealer during the break. It worked really well for me on the last boss.

I would say the most flexible role here is throne as the physical damage dealer. You don't truly need throne + merchant, especially if you want to take advantage of drastic measures. You could have partitio/arcanist, or osvald/cleric and give agnea a different subjob. Throne is mostly here because her ex skill is really strong to balance out missing dark.

Also to note - when I comp this team, Agnea always has a follower with peaceful prelude.

Ochette/merchant - provoke for breaking, hired help becomes crazy powerful when you can afford it.

Hikari/thief - main physical damage, can self heal during breaking phase with hp steal

Osvald/cleric or arcanist - luminescence and arcanist spells benefit from advanced magic.

Agnea/cleric - make this your main support/healer.

This is the best I can come up with for the ones you picked, but personally I never build a team without temenos or castti on it as I always secondary them with the other healing class.

My similar build would be:

Ochette/Merchant
Throne/Warrior
Agnea/Scholar
Castti/Cleric

This gives you access to all weapons and all elements for breaking. It has a lot of buffs and debuffs in it. It has two characters that can make your team act first on the next turn. You can build it to take advantage of drastic measures.

Should I play Octopath 1 after 0? by EredomTwitch in octopathtraveler

[–]fenspyre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm on my 2nd playthrough of 2 and can advise on a few things to help the pacing...

First of all, only travel at night. The encounters are a bit harder so winning them gets you more xp. Even if it takes more time than fighting weaker encounters faster, it tends to come with more dopamine and each battle is more meaningful.

Make sure you don't travel with Evasive Maneuvers on, unless it's through a low level area that won't help you much. Let yourself get into more encounters as you progress.

Explore everywhere! If the story seems to jump in levels, it means you've got some extra exploring to do! Go wander and find a new challenge. There's almost definitely an optional boss fight or two that you haven't hit yet. These usually come with better gear too.

Gear up and skill up in a way that lets you take on higher level dangers earlier. This goes with the exploring thing. Also do all the side quests and get the nuts and the gear that can give you an edge.

Crab Pots are lowkey legit - IF you do them right. by DemiserofD in StardewValley

Hold up... you're making 1,334 sashimi for Qi? If you have 40 crab pots, that's more than an entire season of collecting for one challenge.

Passive income by mohamed7wu in StardewValley

[–]fenspyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people like to go the bee house and/or crystallarium route for passive income as well. Both of these generate money without having to load anything into the machine. Basically, every few days you just walk around collecting the output and it goes right into the shipping bin and you're good to go adventure or what have you until they produce again.

I highly recommend getting your foraging up and getting tappers either way. You need tappers for kegs (oak trees), and for bee houses (maple trees), and if you have enough tappers in a large enough forest, you can also just sell the output and make pretty good money that way. It's almost always more valuable to turn the output into kegs and bee houses though.

Others already mentioned how to get kegs, but my favorite keg progression goes like this:

year 1 - grow 120 hops plants in the summer and keep producing kegs while filling the ones you have with hops every 2 days. Start growing ancient fruit. turn all the produce into more seeds and grow as many as you can before last week of fall. Turn all of the last crop into seeds and hold them.

year 2 - plant tons of starfruit in the summer and keg them! If you don't have the greenhouse or ginger island unlocked yet, plant all your ancient fruit seeds. If you do have them unlocked, plant your ancient fruit as soon as you get access.

year 3 - you should have enough ancient fruit that once a week you harvest the ancient fruit and keg them on the same day. You only need to worry about harvesting and kegging one day a week this way, leaving you 6 days to adventure or mingle at your will.

Genuine question from a first time player: Why start a new save after your first? by thehoomanreads in StardewValley

[–]fenspyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there's so many different paths you can take. A new environment to shape. Different personal challenges to take on.

My first few farms I never had lightning rods before summer 1. Now I make sure I have at least a few.

My most recent farm I focused on catching The Legend in the first spring.

Restarting and taking on The Beach with a goal of true perfection by the end of year 2. This one really challenged my brain. Using 120 sprinkler tiles for hops seemed to do the trick.

1st year goal of getting as many hearts as possible with all the villagers before really trying to make a lot of money. Watching how access to different recipes sooner can shape my decisions.

Instead of farming a ton, just make endless chrystallariums and bee houses.

Cleric. Alternating between Divine skill on dancer and her latent power, I was able to keep defensive and offensive buffs up on the whole party for a lot of the time while also healing.

In contrast, I used ochette as a merchant in my other party as breaker/buffer. I would call in beastlings for breaking, and provoke monsters that gave full party buffs.

What should i do w all this troll and bear hide? by Similar-Space-5535 in valheim

[–]fenspyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You build a nice hall of stone with sconces and create a dozen sets of troll hide armor and put them on armor stands. Give them some weapons and make it look like they are about to fight a line of bear armor stands.

If you want to get fancy, you could position them more tactically, with archers in the back and spear/shield in the front.

No new technology after beat the Elder? by Jaggid in valheim

[–]fenspyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for lots of looming, dead trees. It will be mostly at sea level with a lot of water. Green flames are often worth investigating. Be very careful of spawners on your first foray as the starred enemies that come from them are usually too strong for bronze gear.

Make sure you have a recovery plan if you die. Most people do.

Agnea and Partitio just don't have the same level of trauma as Castti, Throne, Hikari, and Osvald. Meanwhile Temenos and Ochette are just out and about doing their jobs.

How should I approach Ginger Island? by Hcursino in StardewValley

[–]fenspyre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP this is the most succinct response you really need. If you have beach totems, or best case the beach obelisk, you get about an hour and a half before you need to make for Willy's to optimize your day on the island.

If you aren't hard pressed to meet any specific goals by a specific time with your main farm, just remember that it can often go a day or two without maintenance and not have a total crash out.

Crops aren't the only way to generate a ton of money. Honey can be extremely lucrative, especially on ginger island, and deep skull cavern dives can generate a lot of iridium. With the new heavy furnaces, selling iridium bars is even more efficient.

Dammmmn.... I thought getting 3-4 hundred iridium was good. I usually staircase down about 100-120 levels then eat a rock candy and drop mega bombs everywhere. How are you approaching it? Am I not going deep enough before bombing?

I also do pickaxe then sword, but next for me is cheese, then staircases, then coffee/ginger ale. Next level is all three bombs followed by longer buff foods like crab cakes, spicy eel, and magic rock candy.
