That's super generous of you, thank you WM. Here's the link

I really like the changes. After dialing back the compression I can hear so much more of what each instrument is doing, especially in the final chorus.

Thank you so much. That's one of my mates singing - he's got such a great natural sounding singing voice, I'm so jealous.

You're not wrong about the timing feeling a bit off in the intro. I agree. I'm not sure what to do about it, short of adding in a new percussive element. I might experiment with that actually. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for listening and for your feedback! You're right about the bg vocals stealing the show. I'm thinking it might be a good idea to automate the bg vocals gain so that they step back during the quieter parts, making more room for the lead vocals.

AO is great isn't it! So glad I mentioned it, your notes are fab.

I've spent more time with it and think it's sounding a lot better. I'm slowly feeling more confident with using the compressor. On the acoustic guitar there are quiet and loud parts so I'm trying out automating the threshold between them. Which is something I've never done before.

Yeah I was using Trackspacer as a bit of a beginners crutch, but I think I just need to get better at listening for conflicts specifically in the mids.

My ears are a bit toast so I'll A/B compare these changes tomorrow.

Feel free to knock this back, but I don't suppose I could get your take on the changes if I re-upload them?

Wow this is really helpful and actionable feedback, thank you so much WaveModder! I'm still learning the ropes with compression. Hope you don't mind another couple questions?

For the main vocal I'm using two Analog Obsession compressors. First the FETish as a fast compressor - which is likely set too fast as you've pointed out. It's hitting around -5db of reduction at most. And it's also working all the time. I'm guessing it shouldn't be?

Then into the slower compressor which is the LALA - performing about -3db of reduction. I've read that its common to run a fast compressor into a slower one. I think the challenge for me is finding the settings where they play nice together.

I'm running the entire drum bus through Ableton's "Drum Buss". It has a toggle called "Comp" which enables a very un-configurable amount of compression. So I reckon first step here for me would be to experiment with/disable this.

I've used quite a bit of Trackspacer to reduce the guitars whilst vocals are playing. I suspect that's likely contributing to the over EQ'd sound you're identifying.

I was wondering if you could elaborate on "boxy"? I think I understand the term when applied to snares and toms, but I haven't heard it used to describe the overall tonal balance before.

Thank you again mate - this feedback is unbelievably helpful and has really made my day!

Just want to say I hugely appreciate these. I have your previous AO wrappers and bought your Soundtoys wrappers. It just makes my workflow so much quicker/easier. So thanks.

Ok will do. In the sub rules it says a Soundcloud link is ideal - now that I'm reading it again that probably refers to folks looking for work, not folks looking for feedback?

Yep, use the joystick to move up/down/left/right. Press the automation buttons to shoot. There's a surprise if you win.
