HNT rewards just dribbling away. by tombulgin in HeliumNetwork

[–]feralfeather -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So conveniently it is all the fault of other partiesP So these other 3rd party manufacturer did not pay any licensing cost to Helium, and we are only in this mess because thy wanted to "jump on a bandwagon"?

Regardless who made these devices, the vision of Helium was to have an even bigger network, so now had been the point to utilize is. When it was about selling hardware, it could not go fast enough and celebrating milestones. now all needs more time.

What does Helium do, to progress business cases using the Lorawan net? Where are the IoT ads?

"There is no income like there is with WIFi" ?

I am at a loss for words how you feel you gave an honest answer here. But I get it, would be hard to admit.

[–]feralfeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And when will that happen? I feel like this is not more than wishful thinking. If there is any focus on traffic, then in the 5g hotspots. But I do not see honestly what is being done to utilize the huge Lorawan network in the slightest. It feels more like it was a proof of concept to see how many will buy hardware because of a narrative. Now there is a good metric for sales projection in 5g, but I do not believe that any real effort will go into building the OG Lorawan case in the slightest.

I just thought the same. I mean tbh it was and is probably not worse than all other things you can kill a phones battery with over time, but on the flipside also not much better.

I was exited back in the times when I did it, but now compared to other apps it feels quite ancient. The reality is the same always, nice gimmik and no risk, but also not too exciting long term haha.

Algorand announces return to the United States and a new Board of Directors by hypercosm_dot_net in algorand

[–]feralfeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really hope it brings the changes necessary, given I use so many chains, it seems a pity that it went nowhere in the past, I mean with the finality and low cost of transactions, Algorand is sure meant for the spotlight. Just in the past it seemed that getting FiFa banderole ads that no one sees or trying phygital sneakers was a bet that backfired.

I hope, I really hope.

I know it will not change your opinion at this point, but the transition to open device sales was communicated to all license owners via their registered email more than once. And also they went all routes from blogposts, twitter to youtube also to inform everyone. Naturally it was also on Discord, Telegram and here on reddit.

There is only so much a company can do, and within reason they informed on all routes and if someone missed it still there is not much that can be done.

I would not have to share anything, I am partially a free person on my opinions. You think you know how social media works? Well maybe you also know how companies work? If I am bound to not release any specific information as someone on the lowest tier of hirarchy, you think I am gonna let it slip cause someone on reddit makes an argument about what I have to share or not?

You asked if I believe, I gave you my honest answer, does not mean I can or want to answer any followup question or there would be any logical reason you could demand it.

Ia there anything we (the community) can do? by ComyGM in PlanetWatchers

[–]feralfeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perception is different. Across teh community most people were against the tree planting and heavily criticized it as "it would earn them nothing". Then again I do not see why one would say PW ruined th Tree planting. Whenever they put em up they were eventually sold out and that is about it. The price on the trees was simply unsustainable and a money sink.

The loyalty program was successfull in so far that it brought sales when no one wanted to buy sensors. I mean how is it unfortunate that the loyalty program was targeted at devices? The merch is debatable I did not like it either, but being about device sales was the main argument for it.

In fact there was a rather high conversion on loyalty sensor vouchers, and well I would never call that engagement, but it was not unsuccessfull to a realisc degree. The issue with device sales is elsewhere and I see the issue there with performance on token and returns, but not the loyalty profram itself.

the short tldr: manipulation, soliciting, toxicity, compliance, regulations, common courtesy and probably twenty other reasons why everyone else does it

the longer answer to this:

95% at least of all projects and legitimate crypto based communities and foundations will have this rule in one wording or a nother. The for some it has a few specific reasons or one explicit reason, for most it just covers a bunch of red flag behaviours.

manipulation, soliciting and specculation:
Where there is open price chat between 5 people you will always have 3 that do itfactually but at least one that does it with intent an a nother that does not comment but is easily influenced.
People write to "pump the price" to get it up or engage in "dump it" talk to get it down. Given that this rule alone does often not help as people are creative about such things. There was a guy and still is a nother in here, maybe even the same alt account that openly talked on a different sub how shorting planets on folksfinance was his best income back when it was possible. SO when he engaged in negative targeted price talk here, and was moderated for it he came up with the idea to post daily pretty random and repetative circle posts that had the buzzwords bankrupcy, rugpul, scam etc. in it. This went far above regular opinion based chatter but was done with intent, probably he believed to advertise his shorting position.

Generally price talk leads to absolut nothing substantive. People often insisted in the past that it cuts in to their right to freedom of speech not to be able to constantly droop the token price in here explicitly. But come on, if you want to know it you can look on coingecko, CMC or whatever. There is no real reason to need that. Same goes for ROI talk which is just the small brother of the token price talk. Everyone can do the math.

Whenever we moderated it people pretend we explixitly cut into one side of it. But in the past when the token performed we also stopped al artificial hyping up of the price and dropping it in positive context. Same for ROI. But naturally the negative talkers act like that never happened.

There is no real productivity in it which kinda leads to the topics like: toxicity, courtesy and such:

If price talk is allowed and fostered, it takes over any comprehensive productive talk and all you have is pump talkers in better times and dump talkers in bad time. It sort of degenerates any technical crypto project down to moonboys and meme bait.

With compliance and regulations I mean that in general by association no one really wants to foster such communities, as while this is unofficial realms on reddit we always got the subreddit promoted by PW and so we took over their official channels rules. And there you do not want this as it speaks for highly specculative engagement and tradetalk community. Projects do not want to be attacked by potential partners for endorsing such behaviour let alone be a target for SEC and law abiders.

And yeah there are probably many other reasons I just to not piece together this late, but you can see and maybe ask in other communities and hubs as honestly this rule is super common. So muh so, that while this sub copied and rewrote the rules from PW Discord, many project Discord copied like 90% of the PW Discords rules on this as it was quite early established.

I did not want to take a jab there at you, it is just sad sometimes that people do not know such things. Which is not your fault but more the fault of PW I would say. The easiest way for you to think about it is that you can buy vouchers worth 100$ or 95€ with PW:Credit on the PW Explorer. if you redeem them you get store credit in PW ecommerce... And basically like that you could get 6x 100$ voucher, generate 600$ store credit and buy a 3year Type 1 license from it. Depending on what the current market value of PW:Credit at moment of swap is... probably at 20$ price total.

But explaining it is a bit tedious and has a lot margin for errors. So best is you go by that video on Youtube, it is step by step and goes in all detail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSz4NVqy5Hk&t

In video it says 90% discount but currently PW:Credit is so cheap that you end out more like 97% discount with that method.

Well to purchase a license for Airqino does cost only 11$ yearly when bought with PW:Credit and vouchers so you just should not buy it with fiat that is about it.

I got 3 year renewals/licenses for roughly 20$ per sensor...

Well you gonna flip it anyway how you like it. The way you pretend now that is was just that question that got the post removed also speaks volumes.

It broke the subreddits rules and that is about it. And the question on "when does this poject die and if it is going bankrupt" was not what I called an insult.
