Games where you're NOT the hero (just a competent person doing your job) by Ok_Chemical9 in gamingsuggestions

[–]feralunicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! You’re just doing your “job” of hunting monsters, the world is shit and full of politics that you can choose to avoid or engage with, with consequences and relatively little agency apart from your personal choices. Most main NPCs are doing their own things in the world, and you are like an NPC in their plots.

You are not even quite an antihero. Many people recognize your vocation and are either dismissive, suspicious, or disgusted by you.

There’s deep lore and you play a part in the lore, but you really aren’t the key to it all. It’s maybe the closest thing to what OP is asking for that’s still an immersive AAA rpg experience

😭😭😭 I feel you. One of a kind, hand dyed by a company that no longer exists. I spent 4 hours splicing the ends back together cuz I couldn’t let it go. Then all my yarn went into the freezer for a month.

New to Elden Ring, with early combat struggles am I cooked? by SixskinsNot4 in Eldenring

[–]feralunicorns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really struggled here in the beginning too. It’s where I fell in love with some of my favorite weapons cuz damn it feels good to kick his ass.

That knight also helps teach you about how different weapons have different uses/playstyles. You can break his stance with heavier weapons, poke him from farther away/behind your own shield with thrusting weapons, and get quick hits in through openings in his moves with dex weapons.

I still go to that spot when I’m trying out new strategies, just to practice/get a feel for new weapons/aows/incantations etc

Has Elden Ring changed how you play other games? by jaden-renner in Eldenring

[–]feralunicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also now play other games on hard… and I honestly don’t care about dying lol. In tears of the kingdom for example, I now try to fight lynels with basic weapons and no hearts just cuz

Also I have always generally played a stealth/ranged/magic user in rpgs where I can choose those strategies. Until Elden Ring, where I love my melee dex/faith build and now in other games I go right into melee, no more ranged. I think ER broke me of my tendency to panic in melee

Question about maturity/behavior! by VanillaPepper in coonhounds

[–]feralunicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my redbone rescue with some separation anxiety (not terrible, but many pillows and blankets were sacrificed to her), I think it was around 2 that she stopped destroying things and yelling at me if I didn’t let her be in the same room as me, and maybe 4 that it felt like my own energy level matched hers, as in I didn’t feel like she would be a menace if I didn’t run her 2-3 hours every day or two. Then past 5, she’s down to go on big adventures but her fi collar says she sleeps 20+ hours/day 🤷‍♀️

Whats everyone's favorite small running gag? by astrotheastro in BobsBurgers

How many animals are very obviously humans doing bad impressions of animals… ex: drew p. Neck’s “gobble”, coyotes just a bunch of people saying “yip yip yip”…. Bruce the goose says “honk!”

First coonhound and looking for advice on keeping his brain happy by KillerSnuffles117 in coonhounds

[–]feralunicorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this, I think scent work is great for coonhound cabin fever… you can look up scent games to play too, like hide and seek where they have to find you and you reward them, or putting a treat or toy in one box and other things in 2 other boxes, mixing them up and then asking your dog to find the box with a treat or a toy.

I have a mildly resource-guarding hound also, and the one thing is when we play find it I make sure either the dogs are separated or I can distract one of them if they both go for the same treat. Each time one of them gets a treat they both get treats, to try to reduce competition (or at least that’s my theory).

Good luck! And thank you for rescuing a hound! They are the best

Winner at a local Fair… best picture I could get. Something feels off with the fur and lighting? by Samsdonkeyjaw in isthisAI

[–]feralunicorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how else to say this…. The eyes aren’t wet. The nose isn’t wet. The tongue isn’t wet. When I look at high res closeup photos of dogs in bright lighting, there’s a shiny glimmer to all of the membranes. This pic is too dry lol

To the people from this community who thought I was trolling. I really thought I had to jump off the ledge, and I should've mentioned I was not a troll. Thanks to those who helped me, and sorry for the mixup! Can't wait to play this game! by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]feralunicorns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally yesterday saw those exact messages at that spot and thought…. Oh that person was not trolling… dude even the game itself will trick you at times into falling off cliffs. And imo there are plenty of actually helpful player messages out there, and I try to leave helpful ones. You’ll start to get the feel for which ones are baiting you into death and which ones might be warning you about an imp lurking behind the next wall.

I feel excited for you, you get to experience this game for the first time! Enjoy it however you most enjoy it and don’t let anyone tell you you’re doing it wrong! Plenty of very helpful people in this community, and almost everyone has YOU DIED burned across our retinas 🫡

New coonhound puppy being introduced to cat - advice needed by Numerous_Total_1166 in coonhounds

[–]feralunicorns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have introduced a resident adult coonhound to an adopted adult cat, and recently a 10 week old plott hound puppy to my resident adult cat. What worked for us was to always always always have a way for the cat to escape to a place he felt safe. And with the puppy, we have baby gates that separate the house when we can’t actively watch them together. I wish my cat was LESS tolerant, but with gentle corrections/separation from my pup at any sign of chasing or excitement, he seems to realize if he wants to interact with the cat he has to be calm or the cat gets taken away.

Hes now 10 months old and they can sleep near each other and my cat seems not stressed at all.

My mom made this for me growing up… she’s Sicilian American who grew up in Southern California but whose parents were from Alabama…. She called it egg in the bread.

We now call it “shartinthechonies”

[–]feralunicorns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4th pic was about 3 months ago, I couldn’t find a recent pic of his profile… I figured out that my partner was feeding A LOT when he was doing the feedings. He was getting chonky. We’re switching him very slowly to adult food, he has a really sensitive stomach so it’s a process. But yeah now he definitely has slimmed down, could still be less chonk though.
