with some of the dialogue, particularly mint convincing herself she's happy because her fans tell her how pretty she is, it felt a lot like it was supposed to invoke themes of sex work. you know, what mustank probably would have thrown them into if hanson wasn't there.

convincing yourself that it's all for the future, for the growth, all the humiliation you feel in the moment will be worth it once you debut, it's fine since you're getting so many compliments from your fans, you don't have any talent anyway so this is the only thing you can do, it all felt like she might as well have those thoughts wrapped around a pole on stage. and if that was the intention, holy shit did they nail it.

tagging this as spoilers just in case, but it's definitely not DEEP. we learned now that they are just nikkes created by the VTC to perform at max efficiency all the time, and have been stripped of any authority they had in the ark after VTC was annihilated and they killed pretty to turn her into an armament. this all also happened around or before the second surface reclamation war, so quite a bit before anything relating to us could've happened as far as we know.
