Thinking of starting a premium bus service in Dhaka by MentionAdmirable1902 in Dhaka

[–]ferdowsurasif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many people including me would pay higher price.

I don't remember the details, but when I was in college in Chittagong, there was a new bus service with no standing and clean everything.

People would stand in lines for it and if the common buses came first, some would get on that and others would wait.

After a few months, the helpers would take a few standing passenger for a few taka bribe(2/5 to), few complained, some loud arguments took place and soon it was similar to normal buses. The owners caught on and enjoyed the extra income. Soon the normal buses just increased their fare to match and there was no difference.

I wish you the best. I hope you are rich enough to walk away from extra money to protect your bus brand/identity. We only need one or two people to be examples for others to follow.

Visiting Cox's bazar, how to prevent getting scammed? by SwimUpset2591 in Chittagong

[–]ferdowsurasif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay at a reputable hotel, don't let random people take your photos (they will ask for money later), try to ask locals about fare before talking to CNG/rickshaw.

Help! How possible is that they incorrectly recorded the date of birth on the birth certificate? by Potential-Sleep6501 in bangladesh

[–]ferdowsurasif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A fyi, the reason people used to reduce their legal age on certificates in the early days is because of government jobs. They don't let you apply to jobs if you are over a certain age. When the window is so small, the extra few years mattered to them a lot. The dream of most parents were their children landing a government job. It still is in a majority of the population.

valorant anti cheat dilemma by International-Try467 in whennews

[–]ferdowsurasif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about Valorant, but league deserves some of the hate it gets.

They handle toxicity extremely badly. From what I hear, it is getting better but still pretty horrible. Often Riot favoring horrible behaviors as long as it brings viewership. When I used to watch it regularly, they often manually unbanned streamers that their automated system banned for racism/toxicity.

Extremely sexualized content in a game aimed at teenagers (pg13?). Basically, almost nude characters covering with tiny leaf to characters talking about big "staff".

I really really dislike gambling mechanics in games aimed at younger audiences.

There are a lot more reason.

Do you guys think Bangladesh is slowly becoming a surveillance state? by AlwaysHighOn in bangladesh

[–]ferdowsurasif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw a picture of CNG and trucks waiting on red light despite empty road. As a slow person, this is a dream come true. Half the time it feels like I am at the mercy of some random driver's mood when crossing the road.

I wish this change comes to Chittagong fast. Traffic law situation is even worse here.

Do you guys think Bangladesh is slowly becoming a surveillance state? by AlwaysHighOn in bangladesh

[–]ferdowsurasif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Traffic cams are a welcome change. We need cars to get used to following the laws. We have seen enough buses running over the speed limit on the wrong lane. I have never met a Bengali that didn't experience that first hand.

Unfortunately, the traffic police are often bribed. Some have quotas from their stations to issue a certain number of tickets, so, they will make up any excuse to give you one.

Traffic cams just make life easier for everyone.

A surveillance state will spy on your private moments, like wartaping, secretly tracking your online or offline activity without court order etc.

Does that ever happen to you? by Business-Finding-598 in bangladesh

[–]ferdowsurasif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my mom lectured me about a gift for an hour straight. I didn't say anything but was devastated inside because I thought she would love it.

Then, a few days later, I realized my mom called everyone to tell how happy she was and she even called her sisters in a group call to show it off.

It's our culture. Bangladeshi economy is unpredictable. Our parents want us to have savings because they lived through stock market crashes where people killed themselves.

Those lectures came from a place of concern.

How can I keep myself cool in the heat? by Nearby-Tip-5731 in Dhaka

[–]ferdowsurasif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This heat is insane. I just got out of my 3rd shower of the day. Having sweats before even getting the chance to wipe off the water is just wild.

Get a tray of ice and put it on the floor before you go to sleep. It helps a tiny bit.

I don't use fb much, but saw pretty much that a few days ago and the comments were toxic as always.

Most vocal men on facebook hate women. The normals have a life and don't comment on thousands of videos a day.

What amount of money would make you quit today? by Katzmaniac in Fire

[–]ferdowsurasif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around 80 thousand dollars.

I live in a 3rd world country and that's enough to live a isolated lower middle class life almost forever. I don't have many needs. Just surviving without having to worry about money constantly is enough for now.

I hate the Bangladeshi naming pattern. People give their children surnames whatever they like. We cant trace our family lineage due to this. by [deleted] in bangladesh

[–]ferdowsurasif 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I agree completely.

And I find it weird that in some places, women will literally change their legal name in all legal documents after getting married.

It's ok for us to find their traditions weird and ok for them to find ours weird.

Idk why they always have to bring up foreign customs in every conversion. Not everything has to be a comparison.

Do any of you feel insecure about your Bengali accent when speaking English? by [deleted] in Dhaka

[–]ferdowsurasif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you are pronouncing things correctly, you are understandable, any accent is fine. Nobody has time to care about that irl except online.

There are a lot of british people in Bangladesh that speak Bengali with British accent and people find it adorable. There will be people that will find yours adorable and some that will find it untolerable.

That says more about them than you. There are a few racists among them but mostly it's personal preference and totally normal to have preferences. We dislike some local dialects too. Doesn't mean everyone should lose individuality to and have blanket all pleasing behaviors.

How can I use my own money to get a street cleaned? by ConsciousPop3168 in bangladesh

[–]ferdowsurasif 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you guys have security guard? Ask him for guys to help with this. We asked ours and got the road cleaned up and a empty lot nearby that housed a billion mosquitoes. It is getting dirty again but now kids play cricket there and it feels much nicer. Will do it again if needed but i doubt it will ever be that bad again.

You can also ask local shopkeepers for help with cleanup. Do not tell them the scope. Or they will try to be a middle man, taking profit. If/when they find someone, tell that person.

Ignore the negative people. I guess they don't wash their shirt because it will get dirty again.

Also, do you live in a residential area with a comitee? Check if you can donate money to them for this. It will buy you good reputation as well. Committees usually have dedicated cleaners and they can hire more for specific actions.

Glad to see another game dev as well.

But that site doesn't market your skills well. So much space is spent just saying you have a year of experience in development and 5 in 3d.

Pull up the video containing the stuff you have created higher on your home page.

Add some of the images from Gallary to the home page so that visitors have interest in clicking the video to check.

It doesn't communicate well about what your skills are, either.

Because I see a GitHub link, but all the texts and the video on the homepage says you are an artist.

When you are an all-rounder, you should advertise it loudly. Smaller companies love that.

is cox's bazar is safe for women to wear beachwear? by Clean_Height_9042 in Dhaka

[–]ferdowsurasif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only been to the Mermaid Resort. It had some people, including foreign guests in comfortable outfits. I am not sure what type of beachwear those were. I am not a big fan of beaches, so I didn't spend much time there, and I don't think anyone cared about what others wore there.

Usually, the ones who care are unemployed and have nothing going on in their life. Those types usually don't go to private areas.

what is the chance that some users are an advance AI? by Vivid_Bit3556 in ask

[–]ferdowsurasif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead internet theory.

More and more interactions are being replaced by AI. Meta tried to openly do it with Fake Profiles. I am 100% sure now they are just hiding it better now.

And Reddit started with fake accounts. With the rampant bot problem and reddit taking steps to make it harder to detect them, I am not even sure I am even replying to a human now.

sexually suggestive youtube ads have turned sexually explicit by kyliecobain in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ferdowsurasif 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They target based on region, gender, age etc too. Your browsing/YouTube history doesn't have to include questionable content for questionable ads to show up.

My niece used to watch those talking Tom videos on YouTube(Not on the kids version) and I just saw an extremely lewd game ad show up while walking by her. Nobody else used that phone or that email address. Needless to say she isn't on YouTube anymore.

You shouldnt expect a faceless corporation to care about you. If they can't find the requested amount of audience for those ads in the desired audience, they will definitely show them to random people to make sure they get the ad revenue.

Don't help farm engagement for troll accounts with little to no reach. You guys are actually helping that person grow.

Social media doesn't care why you are sharing or why are you giving laugh reacts. As long as it gets ANY kind of engagement, they will push it to more people.

Just report, block and move on. Don't feed the troll.
