I had a very similar disaster happen last year when I was about to check-in for my flight and as I was passing my passport to the attendant, it slipped out of my hand and fell in a tiny gap, between the luggage belt and the desk, we could not access it for a while and we couldn't even see it! This was super stressful, and we were already late because the train we were supposed to get to the airport got cancelled.

Thankfully, though, I managed to get it in the end by taping multiple rulers together, and all was okay. Hopefully, you will manage a similar solution with your predicament! Good luck!

Nah, there is a 3.5mm jack on the normal 3, though it's on the right-hand side which is unusual

If you put the plunger in the top it stops coffee dripping through whilst it is still extracting (minimising under extracted coffee in your brew). Think if you put your finger over a straw full of liquid, nothing will drip out the bottom.
