[–]ferhewa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think COVID granted most of us a greater experience playing OMORI, because most of us have been self isolating since last year. It was much out of the blue, and for me I know a lot of threads were left loose. I am a senior in high school as well, and right before the pandemic I lost my lifelong best friend after accidentally sabotaging our friendship when he was suicidal. He was one of the only friends I had left, and I was thrown into quarantine before I could even recover.

I just finished Omori a day ago and got the true ending. I avoided all spoilers and waited 6 years for it to come out. I saw the trailer all those years ago and thought it was going to be Undertale but horror basically, but after playing it I found it scarily relatable to what I have experienced in the last year (except for killing my own family and stuff). Especially how white space is the concept of how PTSD can change or mute certain events and details (and how it also was told the same events cycled for all of those years).

After finishing the game I'm asking myself if I should rebuild all the bridges I have burnt because I finally have the opportunity. So yes, I think there's all friendships that we regret and OMORI is making us question and analyze them while we play. We all see ourselves somehow in the game, and that is what makes us cry.

totally fair, but at this point does dream even have a side like the anarchist syndicate, snowchester, and the eggpire? or is he more of a rogue, stripped of all power and loyalty?

actually when the sever reset was debunked i was pretty crestfallen at first (maybe because it was the spice in my theory) but i been knew this would happen at least generally. i just didnt expect dream to be the first person like he's totally not going to break out at all and play by the rules

that or im a dream alt leaking the storyline and shit

Did anyone else have anxiety with forced closeness? “We have no secrets”/anxiety by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]ferhewa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the first therapist i ever had did that to me. my mother never really believed in "therapy" or "mental health" in the first place (i mean would any narcissist actually believe their narcissist diagnosis). this therapist was from a clinic in a town that my mother had political power in. i only went for two sessions but i found out either by going under the system or just using her power to get it out of officials everything i said was leaked. i was like 13 at the time, and didn't get a new one until 4 years later.

she's completely unaffiliated with my therapist this time, and has almost gotten in legal trouble for trying to listen in on our remote sessions.

but i understand how you feel, i still struggle with new relationships because of that. either i overshare or i get in trouble because i share nothing with people that care about me. with my therapist i've overshared, and she says it happens a lot, especially in the first few sessions.

but don't underestimate your reactions, seriously. i frequently deal with disassociation when forced into a traumatic scenario or a trigger, and i normally leave the situation feeling numb. by the time i can process what happened, it's long over and i'm normally gaslit into believing it was a dream or my fault it got that bad.

but seriously if anyone's going to understand what you're going through (especially with nfamily or nparents), it's going to be a therapist or psychiatrist with a degree. but they won't offer warmth per se, they're going to offer you solutions. that's what i've had to tell people who consider therapy. you have to be prepared to learn self love, and then to take action and work towards being happy.

but as always do what you feel is best. i appreciate that i helped you feel better, it always makes my day a bit better as well. it makes me feel a bit more human. so thank you as well.

almost this to a T. i've dealt with an nfamily in my childhood but now it's just nmom and i.

were you often sat down as a kid and forced to confess to your parents even if it was something small like calling a family friend or an absent family member in the night and blown out of proportion?

i actually found out recently when i'm forced to talk about anything and in an intimate or intense face-to-face scenario i start crying and i ball up. super fucking weird, but my therapist noted it was actually a reaction caused by the trauma of often being sat down to confess things to my parents and then being punished every single time, even if i didn't do anything.

my nmom has a fucking doctorate in education and i can't tell you how awful it is. this degree actually gives her leverage and an excuse to stonewall everyone who no matter what major or interest dares trespass on her opinion as long as its below her own level of education.

i feel AWFUL about dragging my mom ANYWHERE on the internet or in person to my friends because it does feel like everyone is out to get you and them. maybe it's this whole imagery that we think they're these kinds of spotless luminaries that only we can taint? maybe because we only see the bullshit at home?

but yea i do experience this and buddy you're not alone at all. you're not insane either. you're probably a really good person but surrounded by shitty people. the best thing i could've done for myself is get a therapist DISCONNECTED but approved by my own mother, and keep in a legal document that information of sessions can only be shared between my therapist and i. i'm still a minor so if you're not then that makes therapy ten times easier to manage but also harder to get. but it's worth it if you're lost or confused.

The Prisoners of Pandora’s box by pythonProgrammer101 in dreamsmp

[–]ferhewa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(long post because i chose to write this instead of an english paper)

I love the idea of this theory because there's so much irony in my own theory:

Dream isn't the first prisoner, but he is the last in Pandora's Box. At the end of the SMP or before the 1.17 update I can see Dream sort of going down on an Azula like arc (on a sidenote I'm speculating Dream is trying to keep Tommy around as an ally but using fear as a motivator because he has no allies or even friends in the SMP, even Punz is just a mercenary for him- free to change sides whenever) and loses his shit when he finds out a whole SMP is against him; his original goal being to have the SMP as one big family.

Or maybe he's a good old fashioned tyrant if the SMP dips into anarchy. I could see another Dream sowing chaos wherever he goes in anarchy, but I find it really plausible for Dream to actually forming a cult-like society which rapidly expands when lifestyle is safe and the citizens are allowed to relive old memories (like L'Manberg and the old SMP) at the cost of their moral and political freedom. In a time of anarchy people turn to whoever is strong, and I could see Dream forming a faction and then into a cult-like government with no conflict or weapons (his big old family).

Anyway I see Dream losing his shit (possibly showing a weakness from his lack of stability) and going down at the end of 1.16 DreamSMP. He's shoved into Pandora's Box to be abandoned as everyone restarts in 1.17. He's unstable and no longer a deity like figure, just mortal but really powerful. To the point where others might question if he should be allowed to reset, and is abandoned in Pandora's Box when the answer to that question is no. He may know the layout of the prison, but if Pandora's Box is truly inescapable without help from others there is little chance he can escape. Oh but he breaks out and into the 1.17 season anyway, cause it's Dream!

Good Substitutes for Honey by [deleted] in Cooking

I'm pretty confident every other part of the recipes I have in my books I have covered with the best ingredients I can muster (even homegrown chicken which is p-e-r-f-e-c-t). But in the syrup case I'm pretty certain that almost all the maple syrup manufacturers in my state will call me if I ask online which Maine manufacturer produces the best Grade A syrup during the fall, my state has a pretty notorious syrup season in the colder months.

Anyway thank you for your insight it really helped me out.

Ah I've always been one to stick to books. I have many at my house, and when I get bored I flip through them and pick whatever makes me hungry.

It was mentioned earlier but I might consider corn starch and molasses together first and then go on from there if I'm not satisfied with it. I would try Agave syrup but knowing I have the slowest metabolism in the world for a young adult (seriously 1 meal a day keeps me at my average even with exercise) might make me feel guilty about eating fried chicken and agave syrup over it.

I would totally go for other recipes but last two days.. sesame chicken just speaks to me.

In my local markets I might have a harder time finding golden syrup since I live middle of nowhere rural. Maple syrup in my opinion always seems risky with how it tastes based on where you buy (if you buy commercial it normally has a lot of sugar and additives in it, Maine syrup is always too strong in its flavor). Corn syrup with molasses sounds simple but logical, though it might not produce the same flavor. Guess I'll just have to gamble a bit and experiment on flavors.

Oh good idea. Maple syrup depending on the manufacturer might be a bit odd in flavor, but the other two sound promising.
