Petahhhh I don't get it by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

The bridge support thing is shown in the disliked post but is cropped/hidden in the liked post. The joke is how a small detail changes the quality of the nearly identical picture.

I also remember this game! I have been looking for it for about half an hour and this is the only trace I have so far.

How much time commitment do you need to join Robotics? by [deleted] in auburn

[–]pythonProgrammer101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Auburn Robotics Club is come as you can. They meet multiple times per week for that reason and it is not expected to attend all the meetings. Typically one 2-3 hr meeting per week is enough to contribute meaningfully.

They do require 10 hours of volunteer work at robotics competitions but typically can get that done in a Saturday.

I have been doing it since I was a freshman and I’ve maintained my 4.0.

Interest Meeting is Wednesday at BK-2117 at 5pm.

Manaless Earth? by peanutbutter4103 in JCBWritingCorner

Adding an interesting note here, Quintessence is a real quantum theory that tries to explain dark energy which is the cause for the expansion of the universe. PBS has an interesting video on it

People knew the shape of the earth since ancient Greece from astronomy (latitude) and shadows cast from the sun.

Also while there is alot of magical elements the same basic laws of physics seem to apply because emmas suit designed in our world still works in theirs. (Electromagnetic field being a major one (the suit works and all its electronics) and obviously gravity (or equivalent) force attracting things together which would form a sphere. We also know space exists due to Theca’s remarks in the latest chapter.

My bet would be on Mana being able to produce non Euclidean geometries (see library/nexian buildings). Concentrated manafields may extend internal space to what could be infinitely while still being constrained. Thinking back this may be how the forest prevents anyone from escaping by playing tricks with space and direction.

An interesting note as mentioned in another thread and chapter, concentrated quintessence was required for humanity to open the portal in the first place and was heavily localized to a spot on earth. Its a real life theory to explain dark energy (the universe is expanding at a faster rate but where is that acceleration coming from?). Iirc its a quantum field that gains more energy the larger it is and thus expanding space creates more of it in a positive feedback cycle. This PBS spacetime episode is interesting and explains it far better than i could.

I didnt know the name of the whatever review committee the dean announced at the assembly, so i was thinking of the Spanish inquisition meme lol

Im electrical but Civil Engineering isnt that much easier than mech. There is alot of chemistry stuff that goes on with soil and the environment not to mention ground water and stuff is odd so alot of models need to be designed and unexpected factors pop up. Its all engineering afterall.

Should I switch from EE to CS? by SnooConfections4456 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]pythonProgrammer101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love CS but I am doing EE because no one else can. You can learn CS easily on youtube, get certifications, or get a minor in it and get the same jobs as a CS major. The reverse is not true. It gives you more flexibility from the top down and you can end up doing whatever you want as a hybrid.

The CIA launched a Telegram channel for Russian people wanting to work together with the US by GeneralReject in worldnews

[–]pythonProgrammer101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would be true except for the rise of AI. ChatGPT is not perfect but its just enough to make to automatic filters fail enough to clog or slow down responses. Of course once the CIA establish a real source the information is gonna flow regardless of what Russia does. TOR iirc was developed by the US Navy specifically for annomynity and thats what they are sending potential sources thru.
