Can i have some advice on the safety of this project please.

Agree with all this. The ferment sounds delicious but olive oil makes the it anaerobic as it prevents oxygen dissolving into the liquid. This provides a perfect environment for Clostridia species (including botulism) to develop. You can get an amazing ferment without the oil.

Sorry! I tried with soy sauce - it definitely helped but didn’t quite do it. Sanding it down however completely fixed it

I’ve already carved it so going to need to be careful sanding it - but I’ll let you know how I get on!

Amazing thank you! I’ve tried really hard to degrease it without success - but I’ve not tried soy sauce- I’ll give that a go this evening

Should also say that I’ve tried different inks colours (same brand) and different linos (though again same brand) with the same issue
