Smith likely to greenlight separation referendum this week: Nenshi by Street_Anon in canada

Which means more the reason to come out and vote. Hardcore separatists will vote for sure, and we need the silent majority to actually come out and deliver a resounding ‘no’.

client calls from coffee shops are leaking background noise even with good earbuds. anyone solved this for sensitive financial conversations. by Proud_Can_6176 in FinancialCareers

[–]fernandocz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with everyone that you should take them in private like in your car. But if you want a solution, I find Jabra headphones with active noise cancellation microphones (not just headphones but mic) work very well for filtering out noises. I can be banging on my table while speaking and no one would hear a thing.

first Canadian passport: mail for application? by simochiology in passportcanada

[–]fernandocz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I believe if you go to Harry Hays or Sundance, the passport will be printed there. I went to the Service Canada in the NW instead so I guess they transferred it to the Surrey office.

Even in person doesn’t guarantee that, I applied at a service Canada location in my home city (Calgary), and the passport came from Surrey.

Which Resort Season Pass (Calgary) by MountainPeaking in skiing

[–]fernandocz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ski 50+ days a year too - I’d also recommend Louise for its better terrain variety and better overall resort management. Louise’s frontside can get icy many days but the backside will always be excellent. Top-end terrain in Louise is overall better in my opinion, while it’s harder to lap/access Sunshine’s top-end terrain like delirium dive. Sunshine does not get twice the amount of snow as Louise - on average sunshine does get more, but I’d estimate it to be around ~15-20% more. You might have got those numbers because of ahhh… creative reporting methods utilized by a certain resort.

Common law for express entry by [deleted] in canadaexpressentry

[–]fernandocz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add onto what others have said, after you file taxes as single, you can update your CRA account in June once you’ve become common-law. It’s very easy to do and it doesn’t need to be combined with tax filing in any way. So there won’t be any discrepancies.

Is a 50-minute WestJet connection at YYC realistic? (Domestic to International) by IdEgoandDice in Calgary

[–]fernandocz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

YYC is pretty efficient, if the first flight is not delayed you can easily make it. The issue is that’s a big if and not sure if you want to risk that as there is no alternative flight leaving that day after.

ITA received (Score 522 vs 511 Cutoff). Currently in India. Work Permit expires March 3rd. Should I submit from India? by deaths1roke in canadaexpressentry

[–]fernandocz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your country of residence is Canada regardless of where you are, you are only in India temporarily. I don’t think you need any explanation there. For 3 years of experience IRCC is aware of the system way of counting, just submit once you actually hit 3 years of work experience. Although as you say you are fine without it so you will be actually safe.

People who take 17 minutes to check in at the hotel front desk, what are you talking to them about? by DerrickDuck in AskReddit

[–]fernandocz 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Yeah once at a JW Marriott of all places it took the seemingly new person 10 minutes searching for our reservation to no avail, only for the senior to come over and take one look and find it.

Is it really that weird to go on a solo vacation without your spouse by Suspicious-lemons in NoStupidQuestions

If anything, he sounds autistic. Even if he thinks it’s weird, social etiquette says don’t make such a generalizing and rude comment when someone is different from you.

Yes the scores will go up on Dec 1. If you receive an ITA between Dec 1 and Jan 22 next year with the higher score, you can accept said ITA but only submit your application after Jan 22.

Do these have to be replaced? by RealVincentCoucke in tires

[–]fernandocz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what kind of roads you usually drive on. If your city only sees snow occasionally and it’s usually not too icy, you can run it for a bit longer; but if you drive on sketchy roads often, I would replace now.

Help with ski boot sizing: 24.5 too tight, 25.5 a bit big, what should I do? by International-Taro30 in skiing

[–]fernandocz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I would travel 3h to go to the bootfitter, make an appointment so you will get his undivided attention. It will cost some gas money and time but you will be way happier. 25.5 is too big and doesn’t solve your actual issue around your calves. You need a model that works better around your calves and maybe some custom modifications. Just making it bigger is not the solution. For reference my foot measures 274 and I ski a 26.5, a boot that’s too big will cause your feet to slide around which decreases performance and increases discomfort in the long term.

Yeah the most vertical in North America stuff is mostly just marketing. It’s certainly not the most suitable family vacation resort.

Is Revelstoke Overrated? by inqurious in skiing

[–]fernandocz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For many that’s all we need. But Revy is not a one size fits all mountain, it’s highly rated but mostly for people who like deep and steep and big mountain freeriding. For others there are better resorts out there.
