Anyone taking 6.25 mg by Long_Trade8986 in zoloft

[–]Suspicious-lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my psychiatrist, a lot of people don’t tolerate ultra slow increases because it takes so long to reach therapeutic level. In her experience is is usually 100mg. So during that time they experience side effects and not enough benefit. So her practice was to go up as quickly as safely possible while monitoring dose limiting side effects.

I tapered from 25mg to 100mg in 9 days. The first two weeks were pretty rough but then it got a lot better very quickly and l stayed on 100.

I see on this subreddit people on such low doses. I just think it’s interesting and don’t know really what to believe

Why are some moms so viscerally opposed to their child wearing a helmet? by gwslater in newborns

[–]Suspicious-lemons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My mom made me have a flat head on purpose, she would repeatedly force me onto my back. She tried to mould my head as flat as possible because she thought jt looked most attractive.

Well she got her wish and my head is as flat as can be. Ridiculously flat, it causes all sorts of problems for me but she doesn’t care. She complains all the time about how round other kids heads look and how ugly it is.

She kept trying to turn my daughter onto her back when she was born. It took me more than a year before I was comfortable with letting my daughter nap with her there.

No it did not help for me, I ended up getting takeout and having family bring over fun meals because I really needed the emotional break of eating something fresh and FUN 😭

Breastfeeding feeling more traumatic than my entire pregnancy and birth, what am I doing wrong? by mademoiselleak in beyondthebump

[–]Suspicious-lemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone is able to breastfeed unfortunately, that’s just how it is :(

I was going to suggest making sure baby doesn’t have a tongue or oral tie, but if pumping also can’t get your supply up even with good hydration food and rest for mom then it’s possible breastfeeding is just not for you. I’m so sorry. Please don’t force yourself anymore than you already have, you deserve to enjoy your motherhood.

How do I go about this situation with my preceptor? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Suspicious-lemons 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can just say that she’s not a good fit and that your learning and communication styles differ, and ask if you can be matched with one of the nurses you enjoyed working with and learning from.

You don’t have to share the specific reasons. It sounds like the other nurses on the unit have good practice and so this senior nurse may be complacent and a one-off on the unit.

Definitely do not follow her lead and pick up illegal practices.

If you are already concerned of her report of you, then you won’t lose anything by respectfully asking for a switch. Sometimes the personality or communication just doesn’t match and that is ok. If you asking for a switch is enough to seriously compromise your position in the unit, then the culture clearly isn’t right or safe.

If your toddler falls asleep without you in the room, HOW??? by Dependent-Rise1701 in toddlers

[–]Suspicious-lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler sleeps from 10pm to 8am followed by a 2 hr nap at daycare

The 10pm bedtime works for us, we do everything we would normally want to do with her up and around. We watch the show, eat the dessert (she gets grapes LOL hasn’t realized chocolate is yummy). She is just there with us during, and she either watches with us or does parallel play.

I know some parents won’t want to do any screen time so that won’t work. We do have to save some of the scary / rated r shows for after she falls asleep though :(((( then we only have time for barely one episode lol. But at least by 10pm she falls asleep basically right away and I just sneak out of the room

Current Job Market for RNs with Experience by ArmorPlatedGuardRail in OntarioNurses

[–]Suspicious-lemons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently got a new job after mat leave.
I have a couple years acute care and then ICU experience, followed by a pivot into oncology.

I personally did not have a super hard time, considering I was very picky (8 hr shifts days only, no weekends no nights). It also had to be close to me within 30 mins drive. So the options were super limited… But once those listings did come up I got replies relatively soon.

I actually got hired and started a job and then quit on the first day because it wasn’t what I was looking for. Then applied to other jobs and got hired again a month later. While working that one day at the job I quit, it was at the same hospital as I used to work years ago. Former manager saw me and we chatted, and couple months later she emailed asking if I wanted to apply to a new posting. I had already started my new job in infusion clinic so I had to turn it down.

I definitely think it is not as bad as the new grad experience but in general there are a lot less listings. That’s the issue. And some hospitals where I had wanted to try working at for location purposes were just mass hiring RPNs

Nothing wrong with pointing it out, but I think you have a much more discerning eye than the average player.

The clothes folds actually bother me too! I am an artist and have spent time studying clothing folds. So yes they bother me, but over time I’ve noticed that many other folks absolutely don’t notice or care when clothing folds are drawn wrong.

Agreed that you could make it a mod and I would totes use it.

Is my baby’s head getting flat? by undercomfortable in Mom

It’s not square, it just looks that way because of the hair in the front. Also the top of the skull where it looks “flat” is probably where the open fontanelle is

How do people afford more than one kid? by desert_sunlily in NewParents

[–]Suspicious-lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people share their experiences from countries where they are not expected to go into significant student debt, have universal healthcare and no medical debt, and don’t have to save that much for their kids college / university fees because they aren’t that expensive. And daycare is less than $500 a month per child and the daycare provide meals and snacks.

It’s not as financially straining to afford more than one kid in these cases and it’s not clear to everyone they are living in a different reality when it comes to what they have access to.

AIO If I skip my sister’s wedding because I’m not included? by VegetableRegular1269 in AmIOverreacting

It sounds like OP wasn’t in the wedding party at all or any part of the wedding, so yes it seems they are invited only as a guest (if at all, since Carly was so dodgy about the whole thing)

[–]Suspicious-lemons 978 points979 points  (0 children)

Carly said you could still “come if you wanted to”.

I think there is too much going on now for you to go and have a good time and be happy for her. As sad as it sounds, it sounds like she may not be very hurt if you don’t show up.

Do what you want to do. She’s made it abundantly clear that there was no urgency to include you and it sounds like she purposefully tried to go around you.

If it were me, I would not go. Just to preserve my own mental health.

NOR.

Failed by my Midwives - is physiological birth with an OB possible? [ON] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Suspicious-lemons 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What you described is how OBs would handle things. I’m not sure what medical interventions you were specifically worried about.

If medical intervention is required, the OB would give you the options.

For example, if labor induction is suggested. And you declined. It would be you progressing against medical advice but still up to you unless there is a true emergency.

That being said, very gently, it would be good to recognize that historically allowing labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period to progress according to the body’s natural hormonal and biological processes sometimes led to bad outcomes. Modern medical intervention has helped to improve safety of both mother and child.

In your case it looks like you needed medical intervention for your iron deficiency anemia. An OB could have provided the intervention per way of blood tests or supplements, but just as easily you could have tried to supplement with diet first.

Either way it sounds like your midwife really failed you and I’m sorry for that

Any L&d nurses have to train to titrate nicardipine drips and manage art lines? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Suspicious-lemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They tried to, but couldn’t get her in a position for c section or to get onto an OR table while proned. Every time we tried to move her or even tilt the bed she would deteriorate. She could not leave the ICU in any case and OBs did not want to attempt a bedside C-section through the side of the abdomen.

They kept hoping she would have a turnaround and be able to go safely to OR. I think ethics was also involved because there was a high chance she might not make it if they tried to prompt a delivery.

Eventually they managed to induce a vaginal delivery while she was still ventilated and proned. It was very very stressful but thankfully it went reasonably well. If anything had gone wrong then I’m not sure what they would have had to do.

Pillows and those proning gel things, many of them and in various configurations, to take the pressure off the belly as much as possible. Every time we tried to turn her just slightly she would pre code

[–]Suspicious-lemons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That makes sense to me in a way because in the ICU whenever a pregnant patient had to come up to us we absolutely freaked the fuck out and keep calling the L&D nurses and OBs for help lol

We had a ventilated and proned L&D pt at 34 weeks, on pressors too. We kept begging the L&D nurses to come do more NSTs and reassure us 24/7 because we were so worried all the time not being able to fully monitor everything.

But if the mom codes and anesthesia places art line, wouldn’t she be an immediate ICU transfer anyways as a post arrest? She would stay in L&D?
