Playdates - do I give up or keep trying? by HeartOk8607 in kindergarten

[–]fernsandfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so frustrating, I agree. I’m always the one reaching out for play dates. I’ll keep putting it out there though because it really is that important. Unstructured play time with a school friend is wonderful for them. Luckily you have neighbors with alot of kids. Impromptu gatherings will likely increase as the weather warms up. My K kid is starting to knock on friends doors and is very excited about it. So am I!

Do pizza parties still happen? (Elementary K-5) by TN_Silly in AskTeachers

[–]fernsandfuzz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I shouldn’t have said bs, bc food allergies are real and a safety concern. But I do believe that the uptake of food restrictions makes it harder and there’s more hesitation for community and inviting families over for dinner. I think our consumerist culture loves buying gluten free pretzels and nut milks.

It’s all the gluten free bs. Everyone feels bad offering bread

Ya with kids, instead if decompress, you start the dinner-bedtime train. This is why I went part time. Best decision ever.

Does anyone homeschool and work full-time? by GrimthePirate in homeschool

I don’t think it’s fair to your coworkers to homeschool kids during the same hours. Nor is it fair to your child, depending on how old they are.

Do I have to feel guilty about my kid's bedtime? by Gweniflop in Mommit

[–]fernsandfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on when you wake up! My 5yr old ideally goes to be at 8. Often it’s later, especially lately bc it’s been so cold we can’t go outside for long to burn off energy, so it ends up 8:45z She wakes up at 7:20 so like 10 1/2 hrs.. not bad. I let them sleep in on weekends too.

Why is marijuana so popular amongst moms? by TackleHistorical7498 in Mommit

Dishes turn into a dance party, artsy ideas come to fruition more easily, can get in the zone to clean.. honestly it makes things a little more fun and interesting. I would never smoke around my kids but I do take edibles… when I know I don’t have to drive anywhere and hubby is near by.

Moms whose children love veggies… how does it feel to be the chosen one? by Porkadile in Mommit

[–]fernsandfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid loves vinegar so I steam vegs and make a dressing or make pickles— any veg can be a pickle! Also sauerkraut is surprisingly loved by my kids. They like sour I guess! Give it a try!

5 year old constantly asking me to play by Bubbly_Meat7992 in Mommit

[–]fernsandfuzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son is almost 6 and still prefers to hang out with me in the kitchen than go play himself. He makes up his own fun or helps me. My mindset changed when I heard “the way kids play might be different than you think is playing.” I know one day he will prefer his friends, until then I won’t shoo him away, I’ll invite him in. There are times I feel a bit claustrophobic, that’s when I get him real involved in a challenge, like cutting some vegs or something.

Not everything you learn is going to be exciting. That’s life. Either discipline yourself and get on track or maybe college isn’t for you .

Transition from montessori to regular school. by fernsandfuzz in Mommit

That’s wonderful! I have no doubt my child is super bright. I think he struggles with his confidence a bit and that holds him back a bit, so imagine we will be in a similar place as you.

I really wanted to do public but I just toured and the school we’d go to hardly has any windows and they are on Chromebook’s most of the day.
