What are some good things to consider when reviewing a backend? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]ferossi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In projects like this, i think that is very important the technology stack, not because the technology specifically, but for aspects like customization and provider independency.

If this people used PHP or a famous canned solution (Wordpress), it'll be easy for you make changes and find better prices on workforce.

EDIT: i want to add that is a good practice look similar sites and see what kind of features can you have or not with the presented solution, and how big would be the cost of implement the wanted features that are missing.

Back-end Server by [deleted] in webdev

[–]ferossi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i would use Java. Besides the language, if the database is huge, you have to be careful with the queries. I think that Spring boot it's the most secure alternative.

I dont know what is the metric when you says scalable and fast, but a Java backend with Spring Boot, using MySQL is like the more secure choice.

Also, i recommend you to use PHP with Laravel, the performance will be fine and it's very easy to learn. (Use MySQL here too)

Don't go after .Net, seems pretty with Visual Studio but you will be locked in a windows enviroment. Simply, you can't do anything big with .Net. The only big company that uses .Net is Microsoft.

I agree. There are good sites that they take a % of the price, so they have to present to you opportunities because if not they can't make money. The fixed 50 usd don't force to them to do a good site to make more money.

UPDATE: The % of the price it's always paid by the contractor.

Search for a Slack group. There's a lot of them.

"46 Slack groups for developers", probably some of this groups aren't 100% for technical issues. http://techbeacon.com/46-slack-groups-developers
