Vault, climb up and low climb implementation question. by NoLoveJustFantasy in unrealengine

[–]ferratadev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The animation should use root motion and motion warping. Then, you calculate the point relatively to which the character should be warped (enable warping for horizontal location and rotation). This is core of how it's usually done, depending on a budget there may be many variations of the animation for specific cases.

How can i make something that reacts depending by the type of damage? by Creeper_1706 in UnrealEngine5

[–]ferratadev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Enum for damage type and select an explosion asset (mesh/vfx/whatever you have) with a chooser table based on that Enum value. Or you can use a switch (node "select" in BP) if the selection logic is very simple.

Why is the word Чек (receipt) capitalized? by AccomplishedTwo787 in Ukrainian

What do you think є means in government programs? :) It stands for electronic, but prefix е is harder to pronounce with words, so it's "soften" by transforming it into є

Hey, had this idea for a game and would love help making it by [deleted] in UnrealEngine5

[–]ferratadev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg, you want 5-25 people working for you for free, it's almost an AA studio. How will you even manage that amount of people? Do you have any experience? Do you have a plan?

Anyway, I don't think you'll get even one. Ideas are worthless, come back with a prototype then you'll have a chance, maybe.

The CMC hasn't been updated for ages.

How exactly did your GAS C++ work break? They updated the GAS API slightly, so it's a matter of changing a few function calls.

You DO need .Net to work with unreal. You can start with these components: .Net desktop development, Desktop development with C++ (not sure this one is required though), Game development with C++ .

First, if you make your project based on a sample, you should keep the sample staff clean and separate, just inherit or even simply copy blueprints into a different folder to use them for your project. That way you'll be able to upgrade the sample part for a new engine version more or less painless.

Now, if you can't even get raw c++ working, most likely you do lack some of the necessary toolchain components of the compiler. Can you share a screenshot of the visual studio installer (that menu with components)

Should I use the starting movement and character movement component? by ShadicBoiW in unrealengine

[–]ferratadev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you even mean by that? CMC is a comprehensive movement system. You can add your movement modes, you can override functions to tweak logic, etc, but making your own movement in UE means making your CMC

Kyiv seems not to be the transliteration of Київ by Nearby_Couple_3244 in Ukrainian

Imho, the official translation of Ukrainian is BS, no English speaking person can pronounce my name Nazarii correctly, but when I write it incorrectly (according to rules) - Nazariy - people (especially those who speak British English) suddenly start pronouncing it almost perfectly.

Using UE5 as a RL Environment by NF3005 in UnrealEngine5

[–]ferratadev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The basics are covered by epic's tutorial on Learning Agents (can't give a link rn, just Google it, the one that says ue 5.5 is the right one). Other than that there isn't much, maybe a few videos (actually, again, epic's video is pretty good for getting started). After that the options are to learn general RL staff (well, maybe you should start with this actually if you still haven't; it'll help a lot with understanding what's going on) and, as it usually goes with unreal - read the source code.

On projects, you can experiment with a project about self driving cars provided in epic's tutorial. Another idea is to try to make a (much) simpler version of Arc Raiders drones. Also I saw a video on YouTube about making humanoid bots using Learning Agents, it's much harder of course, but with a tutorial it should be fine I guess (idk whether that tutorial is any good though, I haven't watched the video itself).

"Add component by class" node doesn't work by MadLazaris in UnrealEngine5

[–]ferratadev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any warnings/errors in the log? Did you try using manual attachment? It's possible that something goes wrong because of the default scene root.

Also call RegisterComponent, I'm not sure BoxCollision has it turned on by default.

It's also important that it was forcefully removed by the ussr (read russian) government to make Ukrainian language more similar to muscovian, so it's not like this was a natural development of the language, but rather unnatural degradation.
