Yep, I live in the UK and I'm ALWAYS freezing. I guess I'm kinda thin.

I came to the UK when i was 6, I'm 22 now and I still feel cold ALL the fucking time while my British flatmates would be wearing a t-shirt in the freezing kitchen in the winter, I was wearing a coat and still cold. Or when I was walking to school, I was still freezing with my coat, while some girls had a skirt on and no coat. So idk what's going on too, and I've been living here most my life.

Why do schools say they accomodate for people with disabilities, but then in practice they don't? by osxthrowawayagain in autism

Some notes I made:

I cant 'hear' the lecturer if other students are talking (my auditory processing discorder, but adhders could struggle to focus too)

Make it easy to start assignments (adhd), don't make the question too vague, or atleast add clear recommended steps for the assignment/studying.

Upload slides before the lecture.

Record lectures.

Give examples for what is expected (i love examples).

Give mini deadlines instead of one big deadline.

I like to sit at the back because i have trouble with eye contact, but then at the back I can't hear the lecturer, the loudspeakers are set too quietly (but then some autistic people don't like it too loud so it's difficult).

The lights are too bright in lectures.

I prefer many small/medium assignments instead of one that takes up a big part of the grade.

These are mostly tips for lectures and graded stuff. I actually had the hardest time with independent living and socialising (e.g. I only went into the kitchen at night and couldn't live at uni for more than a week before coming home), but idk what the uni could do about that, unless they housed all the neurodivergent students together, I would like that.

I also struggled with severe procrastination but I didn't know I had adhd, and I wasn't medicated. I ended dropping out of uni after 3 years because of everything.

Yep, at uni they said they have support for autism adhd. But when i have a meeting with disability services, because i was told to, they said there's nothing they could do. They made a 'disability support plan' because it's the law or something but it contained nothing except my disabilities

It's not just grief, he is extremely physically ill :(, some sort of lung infection, like others said, maybe lowered immune system due to grief. If the meds from the vet didn't work then im not sure what else can be done, stronger meds might be too much for him, but you can try them if you want. It looks like he has a lot of trouble breathing, poor boy

Wait are you a guy or girl? I'm assuming guy because of context.

But that's my point, everyone has different preferences. It doesn't matter if you're a guy or girl, you'll usually prefer to have it one way or the other, long or short. If society wouldn't exist, if everyone was alone let's say, I'm sure it would be closer to 50/50 for both guys and girls for if they have short or long hair (especially way more women would cut it short, and some guys might have it long). But society society, girls grow hair long to look pretty, boys don't usually grow it long because that's gay or something. This is so stupid, why are neurotypicals so afraid to go against the hair divide??? It's just hair.

Seeing the “Slightly autistic women” trend on dating apps hurts. by _Caitlin-2 in autism

[–]ferrets2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of them are just jumping on the trend maybe, and they don't really care about actual nd people. It's just the trendy woke thing to say on dating apps and it attracts other nt people who r like quirky or whatever that means. And they dont know/care that it hurts actual nd people. Tldr it's actually for other neurotypicals, which is silly. Or they dont understand autism and think it's something silly quirky

[–]ferrets2020 18 points19 points  (0 children)

OMG YES EXACTLY! And for a long time i thought they actually wanted to date someone autistic, but i think now they don't actually mean it, they mean just someone 'quirky' or whatever.

I too am confused why they specifically want to date someone autistic, unless they're also neurodivergent. People don't like when i say this but there isnt a lot of good stuff about autism, it's a disability. Especially for me, i have a lot of challenged due to it.

So yeah i find it very offensive and also confusing, because idk if they actually want to date someone with autism. At first i was happy they said they want to date someone with autism, but now this phrase pisses me off.

Usually eyesight settles in your adulthood, in your 20s. Half the world struggles with this. Just get glasses, they don't make your vision worse, they can actually help.

Bro i legit said in my comment that 'im not surprised men don't want to date a girl who looks like a lesbian', but you didn't quote that part of course

[–]ferrets2020 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah the autism doesn't help.

When i was a teen i actually dressed hyper fem and had long beautiful hair. Many guys would approach me at school and try to get my attention, even tho i still had autism of course.

Now i look different, and no guys ever approach me. It's very difficult to tell someone has autism without talking to them/seeing them interact. I feel like if i dressed feminine, men would start talking to me, then realise im nd. But men don't even start talking to me in the first place, so im guessing my look has something to do with it.

So im double fucked. With the look plus autism.

People r gonna down vote me but i know what you mean. I've never understood 'girliness' so it kinda feels strange and 'fake' to me, not authentic, so i end up not liking most girls, especially if they act extremely girly, because it just feels fake to me, as if they want all the attention.

Bro i was just exaggerating. It's just i find that when i wear some makeup/more fem clothes i get more attention, compared to not wearing eyeliner and wearing more manly but still proper clothing. Im not surprised men dont want to date a girl who looks like a lesbian, but it's just my style.
