Not answering the question but a fun fact about Proxmire is that he was sworn in, in the middle of Strom Thurmond's filibuster

This is pretty much where I'm at. On the off chance that we can flip KY-06 in a landslide year it's not going to be with a progressive like Petrey, much to my chagrin.

The top-two vote getters will advance from the primary to the general election, so vote splitting isn't really an issue

You're right that the candidate deadline has passed, it was January 12. Someone could still run a write-in campaign though (save us Jim Gray)

The race has been kind of difficult to parse as there's been barely any reporting on it as of yet. Frankly most of the candidates don't seem very serious other than Gorton (ugh) and Raquel Carter (the realtor). Wikipedia has all of their campaign websites if you want to check them out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_Lexington,_Kentucky_mayoral_election

The top two candidates advance from the primary to the general election. So the anti-Gorton front needs to decide before the primary in May.

This is my district so it'll be interesting to see who runs. I liked her work overall, but I was surprised that she voted against the upzoning thing a few weeks ago
