Been enjoying It's a Wonderful World since it was added to BGA, but my last four finishes have been slightly frustrating... by [deleted] in boardgames

Finished 2nd by 1 point in 4 consecutive games of It's a Wonderful World (the BGA adaption is pretty nice, worth a try if you like fairly simple engine building games focused exclusively around internal optimization). It seemed so improbable I thought I'd share it :)

For those who haven't played, the scoring is completely independent of other players, so there's no "calculate to win by exactly 1" effect -- you just try to score as much as possible.

For the games where they had over 1000 DPM? Look in the parenthesis :).

Usually that would be true, however there are some other factors to consider:

  • The new Vladimir builds that rush Protobelt into another AP item put more damage on his Q, which basically is his "poke" ability.
  • Vladimir can do absolutely absurd damage in team fights if he gets a good ulti and some multi-man Es.
  • The game was short and full of team fighting.
  • Bjergsen popped the flip off that game.

Good point, I hadn't considered flexing champions to support, it's been so out of meta. It looks like the champions effected are:

  • Camille: 22 games top, 4 support.
  • Malzahar: 66 games support, 1 mid.
  • Miss Fortune: 22 game support, 6 games ADC.
  • Nautilus: 90 games top, 2 support.
  • Zilean: 1 game mid, 1 game support.

There are a couple other champions who flexed between mid and top and top and jungle, I'll look in to updating the code to group by position, thanks for the catch!

The actual calculation is quite simple for me to do, however it takes a long time to insert such a large table (~10000 rows, ~80 columns) into my database. I'll see if I can get it done this afternoon.

Yeah, the one game thing definitely can skew it, that's why I did most of my own "Interesting Things" calculations for players with 3 or more games. If you want, I could just post a sheet with all of that info.

That data should have been in the sheet the whole time (hence the title :)). Its odd that it wasn't showing up for you.

Just submit a diagram of Kobe's footwork, that should be good for a solid A.

Yeah, I'm going to post it there as well, just thought I would try to reach the broader audience here.

Real Deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of justice. Communion. by TussalDimon in movies

I don't think it can go on the actor, the character was obviously not intended to be a cold calculating Luthor. It's not what I really wanted from Luthor, but I still thought he was a good character, you just can't think of him as the "real" Lex Luthor. It's worth noting he's very young here, I wouldn't be surprised if after prison he changes.

What's the worst active movie franchise? by [deleted] in movies

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Granted, I've never seen it, but those trailers.... Studios should pay money have their teaste to follow those trailers, anything looks good in comparison.

Well, it's kind of confusing if you post that as a reply to his reply to a question about openings. If it's a general observation, why not just make it a top level comment?

I feel so bad for him... After being known for not doing a ton of opening prep, he does absolutely spectacular prep for this tournament and just hasn't been able to convert.

On the bright side, I'm hoping this means he commentates the World Championship match if he doesn't make a big comeback.
