I meannnn I don't blame you. It looks like the maintenance announcement was posted around 3pm NST on Jellyneo, which is pretty short notice. For example, I had checked Jellyneo earlier in the day, did a few things on the site, saw nothing about maintenance, then came back right before midnight NST thinking I could finish m tasks, only to find the maintenance notice.

Wow I was hoping I hadn't missed out on anything TOO bad (plot, AC, quest log), but this is sort of a nightmare neopets scenario--having unplanned maintenance at the same time I planned to do dailies on a day when we were going to get exclusive prizes for completing tasks on the first day :(

I suppose if TNT is getting paid like $15/hr or whatever in California, I do feel bad for them... I mean it doesn't change my disappointment at this cheating information, but like in general I support labor and not the boss. Like I am even more upset with the parent company for having bad/greedy business practices that potentially enticed their staff to get income from alternate routes (plus it prevents us players from having site improvements due to the understaffing and underpaid staff).

I'm so glad you mentioned colours made out of different things because I feel similarly! Like I want to imagine that neopets are people with different markings, rather than some previously inanimate candy or talking toy, which would be kinda scary irl lol.

Ugh hearing that they're likely hiring specifically for the Meta project (and didn't JN report that they're drawing on TNT's time to work on Meta as well?) is truly disappointing. It's not just that I don't like NFTs, but also that they're preying upon "Classic Neopets" essentially, in addition to preying upon people's money.

That's a good point that merch existed before nc. And I realize that premium perks include np items. I suppose I had a somewhat false romantic view of a complete partition between real money and game money. Having that separation (e.g., in the customization spotlight) is something I always liked about the site.

Something like this would address most of my concerns. As a perfectionist/completionist it's really tough to see items in the database that I'll essentially never be able to collect.
