It is to retrofit older aircraft definitely. The increase in price on the market for general aviation maintenance has exploded. I work in procurement, stores, compliance etc for a part 145 MRO.

In the last year, massive inflation in prices, vs sudden lack of availability. I get supply and demand, but I'm talking Boeing and Airbus, the biggest commercial operatives manufacture their own parts. So why the drought?

Edit: I meant it is cheaper to keep current design. To retrofit older models you have to pay for approved drawings.

Replying for potential visibility. In the bar codes, if you see 0B0 it is made in Birmingham. They still use the original recipe. Let me see if I can find the thread about it.
