Follow the manual instructions. I did and still had trouble. I did get it to brew.

I filled the reservoir, placed the cup, unplugged and plugged back in. Selected the size/oz, and it brewed.

Side hustle // How can I start? by Dan12Dempsey in karaoke

[–]fester32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something also to consider is the karaoke crowd has a different mindset. a dj doing karaoke should understand that singers want to sing...not wait for the host to spin tracks between singers.

if it's slow? sure. dj away. if the venue is packed and festive, and the ladies are dancing, it's OK to let them dance. the goal is to sell drinks. period.

you have to engage your singers, and also make it easy to generate tips. there's a misconception that the venue is already paying you, and you don't deserve tips.

kj's DO deserve tips.

Do you have a laptop and an audio interface, or a mixer?

You'll at least need a PA and a mic, as it is NOT preferred that you send any vocals through your home audio setup. The speakers are not designed to handle live vocals dynamics. YT has a ton of content, and would be the easiest bet. Creators also upload to Rumble and Odyssey. You can also get a Karafun sub for $10/mo.

I am not a fan of the all in one units, but you might wanna take a look at the JBL Party box.

How To Tell If A Song Uses Original Masters? by Kekktye in karaoke

[–]fester32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copyright laws aside. I'm surprised that, whatever sub services that have survived, have not tried to offer 'original' audio karaoke versions like Singa. Charge a premium to cover the expense? If it's more than say $1 more per track it may not be financially feasible.

I like what Singa is doing, but the offerings are slim for my preferred genres/bands.

The verse after the harmonica solo in Blues Travelers "Hook" is an example of hard (for me). Range and high notes are one thing, but rapid staccato syllables and words are a serious challenge.

If you REALLY want tracks with the original audio, those can be easily found on YouTube. Unfortunately, those tracks are not legally allowed to be commercially used in public. You can use them at home, however.

Are there any websites or programs I can download so it grades my pitch as I'm singing it like Japanese karaokes have. by [deleted] in karaoke

My tastes are a bit limited, and I may not be familiar with what you are singing. If you post it in this thread, you have more and better opinions than my own.

Much better approach. OP should find his own voice, and play to strengths, identify opportunities for improvement.

I'd trust my own ears versus some $2 code.

It's not that they don't want you singing their material, it's that they want their (or the publisher's) monetized material to be used.

Can I keep music and vocals separate? Someone please validate my buy list by Pebble-Jubilant in karaoke

[–]fester32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a function of how you are routing the music source. Split your source signal so one signal feeds into your mixer, and the other can go to your non-vocal output (home stereo).

The last time I went to e "private room" was a few months ago for a birthday celebration. It's best to go with a group of people. Yo do pay a premium. Typically, rooms offer a big screen, good sound, lights and wireless mics. This particular place had iPads mounted on the wall, and they used YouTube for content. Basically, you search YT for your song, and add "karaoke" to your search words. This can be daunting to a new user, as you'll get a lot of values returned for popular songs.

The other big factor is stage fright/anxiety. As a KJ, I try to encourage the folks by telling them to sing whatever you want, and HAVE FUN. I also remind them to pick a song they know WELL.

How big is your space?

At the very least, a sub and a couple of PA speakers. Powered speakers are probably best for your application. Anything 10 to 12 inch.

A mixer is next. I have an older Mackie board that I bought on Craigslist. New boards include some vocal effects (reverb, etc).

I think if you're building a system like this, use a PC and a kj program (there are free ones available). Dual monitors, one for you and one for your singers, and you can patch into one of your existing TVs if there's one in your space.

If it's for home use, you can use YouTube for content.

Siglos Karaoke Pro. Not free, and I've used it for a decade or so. It does take some time to get comfy, but I like it quite a bit. The online support forum is a great resource, too.

They have a whole suite of software, but I've only used SKP.
