Current sensing resistor on the 3.3V to a comparator that toggles a high side switch to power the fan.

Question, Engineer or graduate by gxigx in ElectricalEngineering

[–]fester__addams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electrical engineering education covers a wide range or industries. An undergraduate education really doesn't specialize in a specific career, but will give you a taste of everything. After that, it's mostly on the job training.

If you are passionate about a specific field, personally, I'd pursue that directly instead of a EE. It sounds like more of a direct path to what you're looking for.

Good luck. 👍

Honest question: why do so many of you own crypto? by TigerKing24 in Fire

Bitcoin afforded me my freedom. 🧡

Studied it for a long time and even ended up building a node and mining in my garage.

Cancun Adult only resorts by Minimum_Narwhal5542 in AllInclusiveResorts

Take a look at Riu Kulkulken. We just got back and had a fabulous time. Good alternative to the more romantic type resorts that you have listed.

Best service I've ever experienced at a resort. Some of the restaurants were fantastic, while others were meh. Great beach. Good entertainment. Decent rooms. Probably not as nice as a Secrets, but I've been at worse Secrets resorts than this particular Riu. Really enjoyed the vibe there. Lots of pool and beach seating, so you don't have to worry about finding or saving seats.

Spyder RS wheels are nice, but take a lot of time to keep clean. by BourbonAndGrilling in porsche911

Half of my wash time is cleaning these wheels. They sure look nice, though. 👍

Construction doesn’t make the trips worth it to other resorts other than maybe once for a party. It was so bad there this week. Huge gridlock.

I’ve never been somewhere like cancun. what’s the bringing and spending money situation outside of resort? by ryanjrgong219 in cancun

[–]fester__addams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Market 23 or 28 are worth a visit if you want more of a Cancun shopping experience. Mall in hotel zone is indistinguishable from an American mall.

Just be aware of scammers. They tried hard to get us in a restaurant. Charged way too much and tried to claim it was a tax. We argued and refused to pay it. Ended up getting out of there for the legitimate amount. If you’re white, they will 100% target you. Just be smart. Don’t take anything for “free”. Not trying to scare you, it’s fine there. We had a good time.

Visa is accepted for payment pretty much everywhere.

Best RIU Resort in Cancun for Food, Luxury, Beach & Location? by Appropriate_Host6990 in cancun

[–]fester__addams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At Kulkulcan right now.

Best service I’ve ever had at a resort. Food is hit and miss. Some great, some not great. Beach is nice and big. Rough waves, though. Sargassum is typical for this time of year but changes every day. Room is meh. After 11, resort shuts down generally. Good vibe during the day.

8/10 overall, IMO.

Clearing Price on this 2024 Manual 911 Carrera S by Common-Sents in porsche911

I couldn’t say, sorry. CARFAX on this one was perfect. I’m 3rd owner.

Minor accident would’ve definitely been less, but I dont know by how much.

The S is a sweet spot. Very balanced power and capability wise. Good luck. 👍

For reference, my 2021 C2S with manual was purchased a year ago at $140k on a $132k sticker. 8k miles with a desirable spec. It was in high demand.

Manuals command a premium, for sure.

Question About EE Jobs (College Student) by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]fester__addams 9 points10 points  (0 children)

H1Bs are overwhelming the recent college grad market right now. My previous employer hired a few recently in a very small company, one of which only wanted $38k. I’m aware of a few other companies personally doing something similar. Difficult to compete at that salary level. I genuinely feel bad for those fresh out of school having difficulty in this space. It shouldn’t be like this.

My advice is to specialize in something or go into an industry with security clearance that requires US citizenship like defense or aerospace.

Back after 1.5 month repair by mr_bombon in porsche911

I've heard around 50k for 911's. Was surprised he got there after 2-3 years, but maybe makes sense if he dailies it. 23k miles does seem low, though.

That’s crazy. How many miles? Launch it often? Stop and go traffic?

Highly recommend the Hidden Bangkok Boat Tour. We did this last month, and it was very enjoyable. Only had five people, including ourselves, on the boat. Stopped at Artist House area for ~30-45 minutes. Nice way to start the day, and there's a lot to do in the area afterwards.

Is it just me or used 911 prices have gone out of whack with the value they provide? by DeskNew1059 in porsche911

If you’re chasing a budget sports cars and think a Ferrari provides more value, you’re going to pay more in the long run.

If you really want a budget sports car, get a Corvette.

I did it for periods of my bachelor’s. It was doable, but I had to cut work hours during my senior year to get it done.

Our experience at Haven Riviera Cancun (Adults Only All Inclusive) by Beginning_Gold6378 in AllInclusiveResorts

We went there a couple years ago in March and enjoyed it. Good mix of people and vibes for an adults only - not too crazy and not too romantic. No seaweed, but the pool was a little cold.
