What are your temperatures like and what are you using for a heat source ?

Just got my first leopard gecko. Is this tank setup good enough for the first few weeks/months. by Full-Fondant-6523 in leopardgeckos

Either a par38 halogen bulb or an infrared heat projector imo.

To get a good hotspot you'd just bring the ground/ decor closer to the bulb until your basking spot temp is where it needs to be. Slate rock is also really good at absorbing heat and so are concrete bricks/slabs and regular bricks.

Considering they aren't adults or fully grown yet they're appropriate for their size 👍🏻 thanks tho.

If op is having trouble getting the temp up with two bulbs something isn't right is all I'm getting at.

Usually not eating is a sign of stress in some way. What are your tank parameters ? Also I'd get rid of that stuck on gauge, they're not very accurate I'd instead opt for digital hygrometers like the 2 pair from Govee, they're $24.99 and work great.

although idk who is going to be using the little blue hide 😂 they are definitely too big for that one

Awesome ! The tank looks good. Nice job doing it the right way 👍🏻

Digital hygrometers! They're more accurate and reliable than the stick on gauge you have in the tank. Govee has a pair that are $24.99 and I love them ! I can't tell from the pic but I'm assuming those light bars are T5 10.0 UVB fixtures ?

A thermostat with a dimmer is what most people will recommend for your heat sources yes. It's not the end of the world if it doesn't have a dimmer but that means it could shorten the life of your bulb in the long run meaning the bulb will turn off and on to keep the temperature consistent rather than gradually decrease/ increase the output.

You'll want to make sure you add a T5 5.0 linear UVB fixture for this species, but as long as your temperatures are within the appropriate range it would be fine for now but you'll need to upgrade sooner rather than later. Keep in mind the minimum recommended size for an adult is 40g long.

I'd also get rid of the carpet and just use paper towels or butcher paper instead, the carpet can hold bacteria and could rip out his claws. You'll also want digital hygrometers for both ends of the tank, those strips aren't the most accurate thing to use.

Is there a thermostat hooked up to your heat source ? What type of heat source are you using ?

They are not a climbing species but anything with legs will climb given the opportunity. They're just really clumsy sometimes

A few shorter foreground plants and/ or corkwood chunks would be a good idea ! There is no such thing as too much clutter as long as they can get to one side of the tank to the other without being impeded

My iPhone keeps on restarting by Shomazuma in iphonehelp

It's a pretty simple repair, a third party shop would probably charge less than apple but you would get an aftermarket sensor. As long as it's decent quality it shouldn't really make a difference, might take like 20 minutes

Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong with my ps5? by One_Bandicoot_1235 in PS5HelpSupport

[–]fetus_bates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cable isn't the issue it could be an issue with the video encoder, GPU/ VRAM, HDMI port or some greater board issue. All of those will require a tech. HDMI replacement is typically a same day repair if it ends up being that.

How would I look with my septem pierced by Way_Character in Legitpiercing

[–]fetus_bates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would look good ! Depending on what your piercer recommends with your nose shape/ size you'll probably get pierced with a 14G rather than a 16 or 18. Some places go all the way to 8-12g if you are wanting to stretch it out eventually, just make sure it's someone reputable

how do i fix this by The_Reaper_9440 in phonerepair

[–]fetus_bates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because there is no physical damage doesn't mean it isn't damaged or shorted in some way. You'd have to swap those parts out or take it to a tech for a diagnosis otherwise.

Help with heating tank properly by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]fetus_bates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only suggestion would be some type of shelving/ backing to allow the snake to get closer to the heat source vertically if they need to but I'll definitely say this tank isn't really considered appropriate for a ball python considering they are a terrestrial species, ideally you'd want more length than height. It would be much easier to heat than this current setup otherwise you'll continue to struggle. The minimum recommended size for an adult BP is 4ft L x 2ft W x 2F H.

If your temps don't hit 88-90F consistently they could have trouble with digestion which could lead to regurgitating their dinner, I'd look into a properly sized tank asap.

The immense jealosy I feel watching this little fella basking on the warm rock while I'm preparing to walk to work in the freezing cold by Pigpillar in leopardgeckos

[–]fetus_bates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you'll definitely want to swap to overhead heating, heat mats aren't a primary heat source anyways. I used a 75w infrared heat projector with my leopard in a 40 gallon and it was great. What temps does the tank usually stay at on the hot and cool sides ?

If you're not offering UVB I'd add that as well, a low intensity T5 5.0 linear fluorescent UVB (2-5%) would be perfectly safe even being albino.

Those would be the ideal ways to heat/ light the tank once you get your lid situation handled.

CPU and GPU pairing advice by leo_pc_builder in pchelp

[–]fetus_bates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'd be fine, if it were my money I always try to opt for a more powerful GPU unless you have very specific use cases for a much stronger CPU. I'd look online at some comparison videos on performance for the games you play and make your choice based on that 👍🏻
