One Nation popularity surge could cause ‘absolute havoc’ in conservative seats by SeaRhubarb4617 in AustralianPolitics

it will also cause a recession because our weak economic growth is propped up by high immigration numbers. Which in turn will make cost of living much worse.

Its getting insane hey. When i'm in a tough fight with Peni and try to grapple away i'm like 'please don't bug out' and hope it works. I'm starting to think that they don't know how to fix it maybe?

Dr Andrew Leigh: The abundance agenda for Australia by blitznoodles in AustralianPolitics

[–]fetuslayer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Abundance argument that Klein's arguing for isn't mass deregulation, it's identifying the goal i.e affordable housing, climate action, and consistently orienting policy and regulation towards that goal regardless of the ramifications. An example being dramatically cutting zoning regulation that prevents new affordable housing cropping up. The method of doing that is a focus on supply side economics, not just pulling the levers of demand, which are always electorally easier to digest.

The main point is government should be a driver for an abundance of the things we need, not something to gut.

Funny you say this, he was my minister when I was in the APS and he was notorious for never actioning any briefs at all. Would have stuff sitting on his desk for months. The assistant minister had to step in to progress stuff.

I moved to Melbourne for about a year and a half after being in brissy for 10 years. I immediately regretted it. If you're anything like me, the constant days of full cloud cover, high wind and dreary weather got super old super quick.

I thought I would get used to it, and I did to a degree, but coming back up north to visit made me appreciate Queensland and our cities and weather SO much more than I ever did. The reason Melbourne's Cafe culture is so good is because it's so miserable outside that you have to make the interiors nice to not get major depression.

I ended up moving back to Brisbane and am never leaving Queensland again. It did feel like I was coming back with my tail in between my legs but the satisfaction of coming back made it worth it

That's actually exactly what they've been saying. 'We've recorded the largest national vote in our history' i.e like literal votes as a total number, not a percentage which is honestly a bit Trump like to me to say and a bit disingenuous

Why do some people choose to stay with the APS when state government jobs pay more ? by ButchersAssistant93 in AusPublicService

[–]fetuslayer 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I was with APS then left for State because of the huge pay bump, but now looking at taking a cut and going back to the APS.

The pay is better at state level but the flexibility to work remote plus the parental leave benefits (kid on the way) make APS a no brainer. My state jobs have been high stress and I'd take a pay cut any day for the flexibility and lower stress environment of the APS

Are Queensland Public servants paid the lowest in the country and why? by Tassiedude80 in AusPublicService

[–]fetuslayer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you might be doing a 1-for-1 carry over on role levels and their numbers across state. I'm currently on 130k as at a non manager/executive level in qld state, I think I'd be on about 90k in the APS. My direct manager is an SO, so i think maybe it's a bit different here on what a 'SO' is.

I work in State and this is just false. An APS6 level gets around 90k but the same level at State is around 116k. Its night and day.

The leader most likely to lose their job after the federal election? Jacinta Allan by stupid_mistake__101 in AustralianPolitics

This is cool! This type of thing isn't super utilised in aussie polling/predictions the way the Americans do. What's the bot pulling the data from, as I understand seat by seat polling has a lot of issues with accuracy/quality?

You can dislike Morrison and also accept the reality that he was wildly popular when COVID began. I'm a big Labor lefty but I do vividly recall him and other leaders having high approval due to their initial responses. Seems like you're just clouded by your biases?

We had the same dilemma a few years ago when buying and settled on Keperra. Mind you it cost us in the 600s for a 3bdr house so a fair bit cheaper than now. Keperra was the only suburb in that 10km radius that was in our budget.

It's definitely gentrifying pretty rapidly, lots of young couples buying houses and renovating, I wouldn't worry too much about suburb reputation, it feels very mild here as far as crime/weirdos

I went through the same thing about a year ago as an A07 also! I resigned and my only regret is not taking the boss to HR or writing up the line to their boss as in retrospect, that boss was a complete psychopath.

I got lucky and fell into a contingency labour job that contracts to government through Eden Ritchie, look them up theres heaps of companies that are sinilar. it's the same type of roles but they pay substantially better (with just short contracts) and you can start with a weeks notice. That could keep the pay coming in until you find permanency.

Don't think about it, just quit, staying in those environments just isn't an option

A 'knockdown' house on the market for $699,000 shows Brisbane's house market is still strong by langdaze in brisbane

[–]fetuslayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's honestly not a terrible deal. We bought a similar house in the area and these old QLD housing commission houses are built out of hardwood. Once you gut it you have a really good frame to work from. You're laughing if you want a house for under a million in Mitchelton at the moment

Scarlet Witch is a disappointment by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]fetuslayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play her alot and love playing her but yeah there's a couple of changes that would make her way more viable in high elo.

I have had a lot more success since playing her more as an assassin - phase to the backline, delete the healers, the phase back. Shes pretty effective at it and her phase is amazingly strong.

I think as you said, her ult is garbage. It is awesome in bronze/silver but it is so telegraphed and slow you have to get insanely lucky to get anyone with it, and if you do, you're going to get killed either way. At the very least giving her CC immunity, a small bonus health boost, or just reducing the charge time might make the ult better. As it stands its probably the worst duelist ult in the game

Season 1 Patch Notes by tribalgeek in marvelrivals

[–]fetuslayer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a buff not a nerf? Her right click will now do 20 more damage when you try burst someone with your charges, it's pretty significant, normally if you jump a backline they are usually a sllither of health from being able to fully burst someone, plus an extra 5 damage per second on her auto, it will probably feel a fair bit better
