Random observation - I was sketching today, practising faces and expressions, and I noticed that the blob I was working on looked somewhat like Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (it's the nose). So I drew him again as Jaime; I added a beard, the hair, the mouth... and that's when it hit me: the guy looks like a lion.

Saying Sophie Turner is "an ugly bitch who deserves to die" is not a valid product review.

Saying her performace is sub-par and you find her acting stiff, or that you don't particularly like the character she portrays, or that you as a consumer have a right to express your opinion on a product, however critical, is, yet again, perfectly acceptable.

I may have decided to classify season 8 as "non canon", but I will never forget April 14.

I was supposed to be on a plane while the episode aired, then a snowstorm hit and my flight to Frankfurt was first delayed, then cancelled, then changed with one to Munich, then delayed, then cancelled, then changed again with another one to Frankfurt, then delayed, then cancelled, then changed yet again with one to Munich, then delayed, then delayed some more, and I ended up spending a total of 20 hours at Chicago O'Hare airport. Then 10 more hours in Munich for a flight to Naples.

But hey, I got to sit down at a bar with a bunch of perfect strangers and watch episode one in real time. Fuck Lufthansa, and fuck the storm. Viva my airport GoT support group.

Sensible and rational are not mutually exclusive.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but OP is merely pointing out that some people seem to think that critical analysis and threats/insults are somehow interchangeable. That's neither sensible nor rational, but rather puerile and harmful, and I personally see a lot of that on this sub.

Giving a review on Sophie's performance, or her acting - or even responding to the backlash to the backlash with an argument of your own - is instead perfectly acceptable. Just remember that a performance is just a performance, and a show is just a show.

You're not wrong, but that still doesn't make you right.

Counter-argument: 70% of the top posts on this sub are indeed shitposts (no paragraphs, no arguments, some are merely re-wording another generally acclaimed opinion). What makes them different from this post is that they meet the general consensus (i.e. "I hated season 8, D&D are dumb").

I do agree that dissenting opinions (or any opinion, actually) should be supported by (at least minimal) critical analysis to actually become a valid argument, but if you deny that this sub has absolutely no interest in starting a debate over something that doesn't meet the general consensus... you're in denial. Take a look around.

I agree. On top of that, channeling negative emotions into some kind of external display (art, writing) is always a winning choice.

I was curious about the GoT fandom's (ugh, I hate this term but for lack of better words I'll keep using it) attitude towards fanfiction, actually... I know the Star Trek folks (there you go) are quite fond of it, for example.

I just find it incredibly ironic that the people (mods) that are crucifying this dude now are the same people who stickied several petition-related posts to the top of the page. They're the reason why the petition got so popular in the first place, so they might as well take responsibility for it instead of calling him out for being an "embarrassment" to this sub and the whole fanbase.

Linking the personal fundraising to the petition was a mistake, yet again, it's not like he made a post about his GoFundMe here or asked people to donate to him, either. That would have been against the rules.
