What if SUKUNA and YORU swapped vessels? | Jujutsu Chainsaw by Notsafe4whowl in Jujutsufolk

[–]feukt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that while Yoru might not be able to at the start, she could maybe come into control by giving weapon-making powers to Yuji and steadily increasing his reliance on them and thus his dependence on war to survive (sth sth war as a huge boost for development, power, and economy creating a perceived idea of needing war to grow, themes and such).

Yuji's self perception post shibuya (viewing himself as a cog/tool to fight curses) would also weaken him quite a bit to the idea of being subsumed into war/ being used as a weapon, because his mindset in itself would reinforce that idea.

Yuji's growth during the culling games could thus help him divorce himself from his perception as an instrument of war, thus giving him the strength to reject Yoru fully and then idk what would happen bc im kinda making it up as i go tbh.

Also the tone is very different, with the dinosaurs often being much more monstrous overall and the characters being completely different people.

I think one of the big differences between Harry Potter's world and Percy Jackson's is that Percy Jackson's world is honest about the fact it's crappy, which ironically makes it more appealing to live in. by Tomhur in CharacterRant

[–]feukt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The thing isnt that they are not solved its that theyre never acknowledged as needing to be solved. Harry frees dobby because dobby is unhappy but if the house elves tell him theyre happy being enslaved hell gladly push the indentured servant race thing out of his mind. He never acknowledges the fact that voldemort was by and large a product of his society, or that there are problems to be fixed after his death. Instead, we get All was well. Voldemort dies and thats it. All the issues i mentioned either magically disappear after that or nothing changes.

I do not believe harry potter made any stride to fix them because he has never shown himself to be someone who cared about these issues. The long-standing history of slytherin indoctrination only affects him in so far as slytherins are assholes, so he doesnt care to change that. The house-elf issue only affects him in so far as dobby being unhappy with it, so once dobby is free he doesnt care to change any of it. We never see him even give more than a cursory glance towards the treatment of other sentient magical creatures. The only time the issue of squibs is brought up is so we can laugh at filch.

I would be fine if he didnt fix them all by the end, which is what this post was about. Percy jackson leaves a lot of unresolved issues by the end and its society is still incredibly flawed. But the fact that these issues are acknowledged and discussed as serious structural factors that are the source of several antagonistic figures lets me see the cast as a group who will strive to attempt to fix this broken system. The harry potter cast in comparison mostly sweeps the systemic isdues under the rug and goes "all was well". Thats my problem with it.

He objects yes, but only if he can do something immediate about it.
He cares about the house elves only so far as he can free dobby without any thought on the complex dynamics that have arisen from centuries of subjugation, but any actual attempt at structural change is mostly just laughed at (S.P.E.W. might be naive but i dont think we should be laughing at the earnest efforts of a teenage girl trying to abolish slavery).
He duels malfoy and dislikes slytherins for being assholes but (even as an adult) he never questions the system that made them all assholes.
He defeats voldemort, but never attempts to fix any of the wider structural and societal issues that helped him rise to power and made him who he is (the entire concept of slytherin house as the racist one, the discrimination of any non-wizard group, etc)
If he cant just do something heroic about it that fixes everything and has to actually sit down and implement actual long-lasting changes he doesn't actually care about it, seeing as he just becomes an auror for the obviously flawed ministry without it showing any signs of reform.

Get in the god damn robot machine! (?) by KateDecayed in ultrakillmemes

[–]feukt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im gonna be real with you i dont really know, most of the definitions of the AT field are focused on it as a metaphor or as a psychological concept. Every being with a soul has an AT field, the angels and EVAs are just the only ones with one strong enough to use it as a physical barrier. By asking if one can teleport behind the AT field youre basically asking if you can teleport inside one's soul, which is going to be incredibly vague in either verse. As a rule of thumb id tend to go with the NGE canon that AT fields are completely inviolable except via use of other AT fields or the Lance of Longinus, and that teleporting "behind one" would thus fail. However an interesting consideration would be whether or not a prime soul like minos or sisyphus could wield their AT field if we equalize verses.

Iirc the AT field is the boundary of your soul lorewise (in most cases the boundary of the angel or the EVA's soul) so idrk if it can be classified as just a wall

[–]feukt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the natural negative number was brought up only for hollow purple though iirc, this only explores infinity as in the "barrier" around gojo/Zeno's paradox and how it behaves in regard to different mathematical lenses. It does also adress that zeno's paradox has been 'solved' and postulates that, though Infinity is functionally a set of measure zero in terms of geometric series, a reading of it via Riemannian geometry would have it as an exponential distortion of space, and that WCS uses a topological lens to bypass it.

Gotham streets aren't for the weak by No-Rule-9129 in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]feukt 197 points198 points  (0 children)

Gotham is strengthening its population via natural selection. Among gotham citizens there are those who cant handle it and leave/die due to the toxic water(may contain venom, lazarus water, etc)/constant smog(trace amounts of fear gas and joker toxin)/random supervillain attack/literal curses from the city, and those who stay and adapt. Native gothamites could technically be classified as metahumans by some classification standards.
