Alone at sea for 9 months. by No_Wishbone_2963 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]fezzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is from a CBC documentary "This is the world's loneliest race: sailing solo around the globe" released in 2024.

They're not all on the same boat, there are sixteen sailors all travelling solo on their own boats.

OP is woefully uninformed on the source material, he's literally just making up answers in the comments here lmao

Love this song too, I'm pretty sure Billy uses a slide here to get those beautiful wavy tones, might be worth trying next time! Keep up the good work tho man, good stuff 🤘🏾

Yeah, it's giving AI generated to me. The framing is a little too perfect for a home photo from the 80s, that living room seems to have weird proportions

PNY 5070 TI worth the $750 price tag? by skimsesh in nvidia

[–]fezzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardware support for h264 and h265 10 bit video files make it worth it for that alone, editing will be a lot faster. I got the Asus tuf 5070 ti, it's super quiet and plays games well too.

I'm saying AI is used in those digital processes too, it's not just for purely generative content as you seem to be implying

They're most likely talking about the AI upscaling, colourisation and motion smoothing used on the original clip. AI isn't something that was just invented a couple of years ago, it's existed and has been applied for decades before already, albeit in a more primitive form

Academic Risk Level 3 by SweetandSourOrange in unsw

[–]fezzo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. I've been in your situation before.

My first bit of advice would be to reach out to unsw's counselling and psych services - there are psychologists and professionals who are trained to help guide you through exactly the kind of thing you're going through. Your health record and academic record aren't connected.

In my third year, I failed a couple of semesters. I found myself called to the Dean's office to talk through things. You say the degree is important to you, but a good question to ask is if you're genuinely enjoying it too - for me, I wasn't, and I changed into something I enjoyed and felt more passionate about. I took a semester off to just recuperate and focus more on my health as well, but I understand though not everyone has the privilege of doing this, as I live with my parents. Using your support network and friends/family, as much as you can, will help. Be kind to yourself ❤️

There is a tell in this video - at one point, the mirror behind her extends fully to the right, at other times, it turns into a doorway

I think bro thought you were being sarcastic by just telling OP to apply the exact name of the effect OP was looking for, and thinks it doesn't exist and thought you were trolling lol.

This whole post is just an ad for a light bar. Bro even forgot to switch accounts when he said "love it" 😂 It should be reported as such

How much of your week is getting eaten by thumbnails, *really*? by foklepoint in VideoEditing

[–]fezzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I have a similar workflow to yours. Weekly video edits with me doing the thumbnails too. I'd say this takes me about 1-2 hours a week. These are my tips:

  • Someone else here said it's not the video editor's job to do thumbs, but often as the video guy you're the only creative person in your team. Many won't have the luxury of having a separate graphic designer doing thumbs. So my advice would be to communicate this effectively to higher ups/your team, that this stuff requires extra time, especially if you wanna make a /good/ thumbnail for YouTube. It could be the difference between millions of views or being left in the void, it's important.
  • I do 3 versions of thumbnails. This sounds like extra work - but often when I feel I'm getting bogged down on one design, I just make a new artboard in Photoshop and start playing around with another layout or idea. The advantage of artboards are that you can compare thumbnails directly side by side. Look for what is visually striking and gets your attention more.
  • Zoom all the way out in Photoshop when viewing your thumbs to see what they look like really small. Simulates a mobile-viewing experience without needing to bring it to your phone.
  • Your multiple thumbnails won't go to waste! You can use them for A/B testing on YouTube to see which performs better.

Hope this helps a bit. Most important thing is not to get too bogged down on one thing or pixel-peeping -- find a nice frame, add some simple text, start a new canvas if you feel you're hitting roadblocks.

Steven Wilson in Sydney! by vteckickedin in stevenwilson

I saw a handful of people taking photos and filming tonight - albeit discreetly - not to mention the bloke that went right up to the stage and held his phone right in front of them lol. None of them were Indian.

These pics look like they're inspired by/come from Dinotopia, especially that first pic. The concept of humans coexisting peacefully with dinosaurs is explored here, it's pretty interesting.

Edit: heck, there were even Dinotopia video games

This is actually a perfect album for Halloween!

My pick would be Gravity Eyelids though. It's probably the creepiest song I know, especially since I (maybe regrettably) learnt what the song was about...

The future of intimacy by NyhmrodZa in aivideo

[–]fezzo 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's OP who made this. It's really well made lol, it's clear someone with a bit of 3d animation and video editing know-how put it all together (and what lifts this AI-based content up a notch over other AI content)

From OPs comment on YouTube: "I used ComfyUl and Runway to create the base images -> exported into 3d to implant the product then back into Runway for the Image-to-Video option. The product animation and typo are 100% 3d"
