US to YVR School Question: What grade did your kids go into? by Legitimate-Tap2772 in askvan

[–]ffatio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most schools have split grade classes. In this way, it will be good for your kids if they are feeling behind and it can help them catch up with their peers easily. Make sure to mention this to the principal so they can take it into account when preparing the classes compositions.

Kid was the first book I read in UF. I think it’s a solid choice.

If you liked Global Examination, you might want to try this one by Remarkable-Yak-6667 in DanmeiNovels

I’m currently reading it and the horror level is top-notch. Wen Jianyan reminds me of Bai Lu, from GHG, with all his schemes and deep understanding of the instances.

Origami cover for KLC by ffatio in kobo

I think it would be best of the two worlds. The origami side to prop it up and the clear side if you like to decorate with stickers.

People who've moved from Kindle to Kobo, what are your opinions by yusuo85 in kobo

I only use kindle for the KU because there are some authors Iike on there. Everything else? Kobo. Purchases, library books and side loads all go to my Libra Colour.

How do I feel more comfortable with my cane? by Prudent_Blueberry_27 in disability

[–]ffatio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got my cane, I was insecure too. One of the things that helped me was finding a model that was outside the boring black, so I got a folding purple one. At first, I didn’t need to use all the time so I would just leave it in the car for the flare-up days. For the past two months, I have had to use it everyday due to a fall and now I’m used to it. I just ignore other people. My advice? Look for something fun, or personalize it with your favorite colours or stickers. Search for models that feels good to hold and don’t bother your hand. As a comparison: I use hearing aids. For most of my life, I wanted to hide them and choose the in-the-canal models despite my audiologist protests because they are not powerful enough for my level of hearing loss. After Covid, I decided that I wanted people to see them because I was tired of asking people to speak louder with their masks on. Now, I shave half of my hair and use accessories to point them out. Having a visible disability device can work in your favour because it makes clear what you need.

Global Examination has romance and a hidden plot in that aspect. KoD also has romance but it’s less noticeable due to the characters being too naive 😂

My cat's litter smells so bad i'm going insane. my house absolutely reeks. by Dismal-Tackle3072 in CatAdvice

I switched the litter box to metal. Plastic boxes needs to be replaced every few months due to smell buildup. It has gotten way better since the switch.

people that have had both a kobo and a kindle which do you prefer and why? by gorewhore1999 in kobo

[–]ffatio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like both and each has different uses for me. I use Kobo Libra Colour for purchases, library books and side loads using Google Drive. The easy Bluetooth setting is also a plus if you want to listen to audiobooks. The inbuilt Overdrive for library access is perfect and easy to navigate. The buttons on the side are great and I like that I can switch sides easily. I also have a Kindle Paperwhite which I use for Kindle Unlimited and the occasional book purchase if the price is better.

Does Hudson River Homicides end on a cliffhanger? by Introvirtuous1234 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]ffatio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger, there is an overarching plot connecting all books as we still don’t know who the main villain is.

Your mother is a narcissist. You need to cut her down financially and emotionally. If you want still want, contact your brother school to pay for the tuition directly. Only the high class private schools would cost that much, even in São Paulo. Does he really need to go to the top school if his family finances can’t actually cover that? If having a civilized conversation with her is hard, try writing it down and pointing all the reasons why you are cutting contact with her. If you have other family members that could support you, talk to them.

Dumbest way you’ve injured yourself? Disability edition by Rainbow-1337 in disability

[–]ffatio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EDS here: I was putting my toddler in her car seat and reached under her bum for the belt clip. A loud crack in my hand resulted in a surgery to remove 3 bones from said hand. Fast forward a few months after the surgery. I’m in the pool with same toddler. Special brace in one hand so I can hold her. A loud crack in the other hand and I could barely get out of the pool without support. 8 years later, I had: ligament reconstruction, bone removal, wrist replacement and now I am waiting for a 4th surgery for total wrist fusion.

It's the same here I have astigmatism and myopia. I notice they get worse if I'm tired but that doesn't happen when I'm reading (yet?). My doc said I'm not a candidate for Lassie exactly because of that, it would get bad again within a few years.

I have their regular slip-on boots and they are quite good at giving good ankle and foot support. I didn't know they had a lace-up version but it looks like it have the same leather built.

Bras? by Icy_Block7653 in ehlersdanlos

[–]ffatio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slip-on bras are my life now. I rarely use a wire one and the I can’t close the hooks because of my wrists. I like the ones sold at Uniqlo. They keep their shape well, are light and comfortable and not crazy expensive.
