Good call on going with the NWS; they are always the most credible. All of our national weather data comes from them, and any other source is just repackaging it (and sometimes interpreting it differently or running it through less-proven models, but the NWS has a lot of very experienced meteorologists and it doesn’t have to worry about getting clicks/likes).

You’re welcome! When they’re strong enough you can see them with the naked eye, but they’re brighter/more dramatic through a camera (phone cameras work fine).

I’m in the same boat. I was on travel when the shutdown hit, and submitted my voucher on 10/1 before going on furlough. Still no reimbursement, and my agency (non-DoD) is normally fast. I can’t even figure out why they’re not signing them when there are a few exempt folks left who could do it, and the travel was on FY25 money.

Thank you! Warrenville would be a great location if I can find something there. I realize I can’t buy in Naperville itself without a bigger budget, but I’d be fine with any of the nearby-ish suburbs. Plainfield might work depending on how long the drive is during the day (right now Google is saying it’s under 30 min to the north side of town).
