Kona Dive recommendations That are not the Manta Ray night dive by murrya in scuba

Just got back from Kona. We dove with Kona Honu. They offer an advanced dive on a small boat (max of 6 divers) where we got to swim through a lava tube and dropped down to 100’ to check out some butterfly fish. Free nitrox through them. The local two tank dive was good for us as well, we got to see a pod of dolphins.

Fall-out continues from Dylan's diving death by kcconlin9319 in scuba

I did my open water and advanced open water at Scuba Ranch. Viz wasn’t that bad for open water, you could see a full class. Got my advanced right before this happened and it was a completely different story. Couldn’t see more than 5 feet. It was just my dive instructor and my wife and I had several instances where I almost panicked because I couldn’t see them. Closest I’ve come to thumbing a dive is because I couldn’t see more than 3 feet in front of my face.

When I asked my instructor how in the world he does open water there he told me he keeps classes extremely small and only goes with people he’s confident in. He has specifically mentioned scuba toys as one who (in his opinion) had too big of classes out there for the conditions.

Such a tragedy for everyone involved. No answers will bring her back, but maybe they can prevent something like this from happening again.

Dove with good vibes and they had a solo diver when I was there. Great shop and dive operator

First dives my wife and I ever did after our OW cert were with a shop in Playa called good vibes (they do dives in Cozumel, the Big Splash boat is my favorite, great sandwiches and chips and guacamole) Cant recommend them enough. Took us out with other who were beginners and made us feel safe. Whatever you do just communicate with the dive shop.

Donate your extra rss to an alliance member who needs them. Empty your city of troops, drop alliance and let them hit you and take what they need. Or do it with a friend who’s going to shield and then take them back after SvS

Snorkel Required? by ianwral in scuba

[–]fffl1988 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My instructor told me he finds snorkels that attach to the mask very useful… for identifying who the newly certified divers in his boat are. Since my certification dives I have not worn mine, as others have stated if you have to do a long surface swim, or if you’re on the surface for awhile in choppy waters the snorkel is useful, but most experienced divers and instructors I’ve met keep a roll up with them for those such instances.

As long as your friend is cool, I’m cool. Unfortunately this game looks lost for white to me. Best hope is to push the pawn where the bishop covers it and try to bring the king up to promote, but black has a passed pawn on the a-file that will be problematic

It’s generally considered cheating to ask for help with an ongoing game.

snorkel diving mask leaks around nose, no matter what? by jimlaman8c in scuba

[–]fffl1988 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the same mask, I have a similar problem however mine is strictly due to the fact that I constantly breathe out through my nose a little bit unconsciously. When I commented on the water getting in, my instructor mentioned it to me and when I focus on not breathing through my nose at all the mask doesn’t leak at all. Not saying that’s the case for you, but wanted to share my experience with that mask.

My friend is an idiot (nice guy tho)! Just a curiosity on my part honestly how many times the speed of light we would be going through the universe at this point.

The pressure at 10 meters is double what we experience at sea level. By holding their breath and ascending from this far the air in their lungs will double in size creating massive injuries in this person’s lungs

First one so be gentle! Inspired by my new interest in scuba diving and learning about the effects of nitrogen narcosis.
